    Hey,
Recently it looks like the Plaza brought in specialty Silver Strikes.
I spent a decent amount of my downtown play split between 4 Queens and Golden Nugget
4 Queens for the silver strikes and Golden Nugget so I can play $1 5 hand Bonus poker.

If Plaza has $1 5 hand bonus poker it might become a new mainstay for me if he has both in the same casino.

Can’t recall if they have bonus poker in 5 hand but the plaza is a comfortable gaming environment. I’d avoid the Nugget like the plague going forward. Had to start a gaming control case with bartop video poker that is still pending so they just lost a 20 year customer. Nugget also has a huge hooker problem! The circle bar was full of them until about 10am. I used to love waking up and playing there but I won’t deal with aggressive hookers.

does the Plaza have a "High Limit" room.
I cant remember seeing one but I was not really looking for it last time I was there.

They don’t have a high limit room but I think the Sand Dollar room has high denomination bartop video poker but it’s only open in the evenings. Loved that area!

I will have to check it out.
I have heard many people talk about the Sand Dollar room.
is it just a part of the main casino or does it break off somewhere

It’s a separate room on the east side of the casino near pop up pizza. Wish I would have discovered that room earlier in my trip!

Well, you certainly know something that I don't know. I thought Golden Nugget is the worst of the worst in terms of VP in downtown.
I don't know anyone would willingly play VP there.

It is only because I play Bonus poker 5 hand at $1. And Cheap Carnival table games like High card flush and Let it Ride.
Golden Nugget has those table games at $5 and the 5 hand $1 bonus poker generally has the same pay table as any other casino under the canopy that has that same requirement. (essentially strip pay tables)
So if others do not have better paytables I always thought I might as well get my comps at a resort hat has it all (spa, restaurant, nicer rooms, etc)

At the 0.25 cent level for single hand I would never play at Golden Nugget.

On a related note - who has those 50 or 100 play VP machines downtown? My wife prefers to only play those, but will do bartops at low limit (she plays .25 JoB,, I play various but 5hand dollar)

Four Queens definitely has them. Mediocre pay tables but fun at penny denomination.

I believe I saw them at El Cortez and Nugget high limit room. Probably in more locations but my trip that ended yesterday was with a person who isn’t keen on walking.

I haven't been to Plaza in a long time, but videopoker.com says they have 5 3/5/10 play machines. Not sure if they'll offer 5-play dollars though.

Golden Nugget has one in the high limit room. I think at the 0.25 level

That makes sense. I know Golden Nugget has the best carnival table games.

interesting, VPFREE2 doesn’t show any 8/5 Bonus Poker games at the GN at the dollar level or any level for that fact. Can you tell me where this machine is located? I’ll be downtown in a few days and may check it out.

He never said they were 8/5. He said Strip paytables, which are more often 6/5 or 7/5 for dollars.

I think the only “good” VP at Plaza is at Sand Dollar, Omaha Bar and throughout the casino.

    No multiline full pay AFAIK.

    There is no 8/5.
I generally play 7/5 in the high limit room.
While I can find 8/5 single line downtown fairly easily. I have yet to find any (under the canopy) multi hand at 8/5.
But again my decision to play there has always been more about the table games that are available AND more importantly where would I like to have my free comps.
For downtown Golden Nugget is the only true full resort in my mind. Many of the others are lacking something (most lacking a spa/massages) some restaurant options, some only have very dated or bland rooms etc.

Golden Nugget is the closest "Strip like" resort while still allowing me the "Freemont Experience"
I had hopes for Circa but it never brought in a spa and the table games are always too high of a minimum for Downtown.

You probably already know since you said "under the canopy", but the Cal offers a 10 handed full pay BP game. But it is $0.25 machine.
