Nice thanks for the clarification @PlazaPoker
I did a little research on the ECHO AC system and what I found out is, there is a green button on the thermostat, that says echo and you can actually click it off, and then the AC runs normally. This was just a general information that I had found. Not sure how accurate or true it is. Hopefully, the info was accurate though.
So my wife and I were booked for one of the Luxe rooms for Friday through Gary. I was supposed to meet with him Saturday morning to discuss my thoughts on the room. When we arrived Friday night and checked in, the woman behind the counter saw that I was on the list for the Luxe room and her face lit up and she started telling me how great the rooms were, then her expression changed and she told me my room had already been given to somebody else.
After some confusion and phone calls, they put me up in a 'junior suite' and I was told they gave my cell number to Gary so he could reach out to me. The junior suite was far from impressive, it was just a regular room but a little bit bigger. It wasn't dirty or anything, but just very worn. It was on the 3rd floor so when we opened the curtains our view was eye level with the AC units and some satellite dishes. In my dozens of trips to Vegas I have never had a worse view anywhere. I posted pics at the end of this post. And the bed was so uncomfortable I kept waking up every 30 minutes or so because I couldn't get comfortable on it.
So according to the e-mail exchange I had with Gary, I was supposed to meet with him at 11am the next morning at their coffee shop. We were supposed to meet up with friends that were staying on the Strip for breakfast but we had to cancel that to meet up with Gary. But Gary never showed. So pretty much our entire morning was wasted. I e-mail Gary and thanked him for the comped room, even if it wasn't what we were promised, but I never received any response from him. No e-mail, no phone call, nothing.
I appreciate and am thankful that I was able to get a comped room of any kind on a Friday night at a casino I don't give much play to, but was very disappointed in the whole experience. Didn't get the room I was promised. The room I was given was a huge let down. And my morning was wasted waiting for Gary to arrive and he never did. And on top of that, no communication or explanation why. While I get comp offers from other casinos both Downtown and on the Strip, I wanted to give the Plaza a try because I liked the way Gary and Curt actually interacted with this board, and I'm honestly surprised more hosts from other casinos aren't mining sites like this for potential customer. But in all likelihood, I'm done with the Plaza. They had their chance and didn't deliver.
I will say this though, in the past my biggest issue with the Plaza was the smell in the casino, which was always horrific, but it seems like they have fixed that issue. It still smelled like an older casino, but that offensive sewer\cigarette\foot smell was no longer there, so they have that going for them. But again, I find it unlikely that I'll be returning.
@PlazaPoker can you please reply to the email I sent you re: the room rate, and confirm whether or not there will be a Luxe room ready for my Aug 1 - Aug 3 stay?
Has anyone actually stayed in the rooms yet?
It's funny that the front desk said that your room was "given away" to another guest. My host told me last night that the night before hotel staff tried out the rooms and found some small issues. From the tone and content of her email it sounded to me that the rooms have not yet been put "online." It sounds like either the front desk can't find their a from a hole in the ground or they aren't really being informed. I'm super suspicious that Gary didn't meet you at a designated time. Did he pull a quick retreat like Curt? Man, if they lost him that front desk will be in total chaos again and I can see them losing many, many more guests. The two hosts that are left are running around like mad women trying to keep up the demand. Somebody better do some hiring and make it quick...I'm there in 50 more days and my host is about to leave on maternity leave! Yikes! Stayed tuned folks...
***Although, perhaps your room was "given away." I have yet to share my horrible last trip where something (I believe - I don't care WHAT explanation they came up with) much more nefarious happened and my PH Suite of which my host checks me in a day early without my presence - was "given away" but I had to find out myself after trudging up there with all my luggage in tow. Worst. Trip. Ever. Four hours later they found another suite...not what I wanted or signed on for, but finally a room! Yes, JJ and friends "tried" to make it up to me, but I got more empty promises on the casino floor. My host is a doll and she was running around trying to get everything settled for me. If I have to leave Plaza I would have a hard time leaving her - no other host has worked as hard as she has to make my trips special and without stress. Unfortunately, she has a lot working against her there. Now if I could only convince her to go to Cosmo or Wynn or somewhere.
If Jonathan is willing to sponsor a US work visa for me, I’ll enthusiastically do that job if he’d be willing to take on a rookie
He seemed to have done that for his nephew and that didn't turn out well. Now they are also left with NO hotel manager. The staff is looking way too lean for my tastes. There are several key positions that need hiring. They had a few months where things were really looking up. All these false promises and false excitement over the new rooms and it's all ending in a bit of a disaster. Oh and you people that have a hard-on for the Plaza...flame away! I didn't create this mess - lol. I'm always trying to give effectual feedback - apparently, it isn't helping.
Funny you should mention that... https://recruiting.myapps.paychex.com/appone/MainInfoReq.asp?R_ID=2482692&B_ID=91&fid=1&Adid=0&ssbgcolor=000000&SearchScreenID=1617&CountryID=3&LanguageID=2
Well, Christ on a Cracker! No wonder they aren't filling positions quickly. They don't have anybody to do the hiring! Ay Carumba! You just can't make this shit up.
Edited to Add: @mikel123 please, please, please report in as soon as you can and give us an update. I hope for your sake they've gotten it together by next week.
That’s an amazing coincidence for an unrelated reason. A close friend of mine in Canada is struggling to find a job to get his permanent residency there, and this would literally be perfect for him if it was in Canada. Very experienced in HR, speaks both Spanish and Portuguese. I only had a quick glance at the posting, as I’m walking and using my phone to read it, but it was literally as if this job post was made for him.
Will do. I'm supposed to be at Plaza from 8/3-8/9 so hopefully they will be ready!
They just posted about the new rooms on their various social media pages and said they are now ready to go.
JJ posted on Instagram 3h ago that the luxe rooms are ready
yes check your email before the day is done!
The rooms are ready and they are looking amazing! We apologize we were not able to accommodate everyone but that will not be a concern going forward!
That's our CEO! and yes, the rooms are ready!
Looks like I'll be flaming my Plaza hard-on, lol. Quickly sent an email asking about a room for October, just like that got a response. Without any prompting or asking on my part, a Luxe room was offered.
Based on my past experiences with the Plaza, I have no reason to doubt that this will come to fruition.
One thing I'm curious about, and perhaps I should create a different thread as this does not apply specifically to Plaza ( but anywhere), if anyone has such a bad experience any place, why go back?
I feel there's so many options for accommodations, I'd skip that place like the plague in the future. But that might just be me. Ps- I'm truly not trying to be snarky but am genuinely asking.
For me there can be a multitude of reasons. Number one, you may have a couple of bad experiences, but you have been compensated or you see movement on management's part to rectify the issues. Number two, it is all about the host. I have a great host at Plaza and haven't had very good luck on this front in many years. I'm hesitant to move on - unless she does. Finally, I have physical "issues" that give me limited choices downtown. I've still got my "home" at Cosmo and do go back on occasion. I just find it a bit "over the top" and not of my "speed" anymore. I'm also concerned about changes that are sure to come. For now, although she has many, many warts, the Plaza will be home - at least for the next two trips...after that may come another evaluation.
I post negative things or "issues" because people have a right to know and can benefit from other's experiences. I also post the positives btw, but those were VERY rare during my May trip.
If you read my earlier post, you'll see why I won't go back to the Plaza. I gave them a chance and they failed on every level. With so many options available, it's hard to give second chances.
