I'm contemplating the possibility of making a visit to the MGM Grand Detroit in early June...

I've never really been the type to worry about ADT and the intricacies of how comps are calculated and the effects of play on comps... I've just been lucky enough to get some comps that work for me... however, considering what I have read here on the board I am intrigued and it has now become part of my thought process when gambling. I don't plan to play to chase comps, however if I can make some minor adjustments or keep certain things in mind that may help then I am definitely open to that.

Anyhow, I'm just wondering what kind of effect a few hours of play at MGM Grand Detroit might have on offers in Vegas (if any)?

It won't affect your vegas offers. My play at other mgm locations outside Vegas don't have any impact. In fact, my offers from gold strike in tunica and Beau Rivage are not associated with each other either. They are property specific.

Well, I play @ MGM grand Detroit all the time it's pretty much my home casino. And to answer your question in my case, YES it did/does make difference as I play locally I get offers DIRECTLY from my host to free trips MGM Benton harbor, Beau Rivage etc and mlife started offering some discounted rates along with couple nights free in Vegas(this happened when I reached platinum) and when I made some calls for Vegas MGM hotels then they looked into my play and able to offer upfront comps. One great thing about MGM Detroit they still offer you Express Comps based on your table play and it does add up really fast (max out at $5k) then I go to Vegas and spend it mostly. Again this is my case only and I play here most/all the time. So, if you play here maybe once or twice I don't know if it will have any huge impact on Vegas offers but do keep in mind about earning Express Comps which comes in very handy.
    Good luck..

Drew, the question was whether play affected offers. Host offers or special offers are a different story and I didn't address that. What I was answering related to property offers. You can play low at one property and high at the other, and you will still get offers from each property that are relative to the play at those specific properties. However, yes, your play can be considered for other properties by a host. But, that is a different topic. My play from Vegas got me a special invitation to a Beau Rivage event before I had ever set foot in that property.

I think the OP is either concerned with hurting or helping existing Vegas offers. That will not happen from play in Detroit. But, contacting a host to review play at other properties could elicit a special arrangement or offer by a host. Corporate and property specific offers won't be affected.

I have a regional VP with MGM Resorts for my host for properties outside of Vegas. Each property maintains there own marketing department and generates offers. Big players get with a host and can get special deals.

    Thanks for the info guys!
I guess I could have been more specific... I didn't think a lot of play at MGM Detroit would garner any big comp offers in Vegas, I think I was more concerned with short or minimal play at MGM Detroit negatively affecting the Vegas offers I've been accustomed to.
From your feedback I think I got the answer. I do like the tip on the Express Comps... I like playing blackjack so I definitely don't mind the possibility of earning some nice Express Comps for use on my Vegas trip in July!

lol I'm not disagreeing with you...I was simply talking about my experience w local casino. And yes, I think OP got pretty good idea what needs to be done; he's been enough places/Vegas to get info! I think it's all good.
@JRRestoule glad we can be little help! Hope you make some $$$ if you do decide to come visit Detroit ... yes it's little hole in the wall(compare to Chicago lol) but we have 3 casinos within 10 mins a part from MGM grand Detroit (MGM being the best)

I agree with Drew about MGM being the best in Detroit. I will make the 3 hour drive sometimes instead of the 30 minutes up to Cleveland. There are some other fun things to do in and around the motor city as well.

I just had a recent one night stay on April 30th at MGM Detroit, I played roulette exclusively for 5 hours at 100/spin and earned 3900 tier credits and $94 in express comps. I felt that tier credits earnings were a little low for the amount of time I spent playing at the same table. I confirmed my play and tier credits with a host before check out as i felt it was on the low side. Other than that it was a great casino and nice change from Vegas.

Great point you just brought out.... last year, I looked into Tier points system MGM Michigan vs MGM Vegas hotels; it turns out;according to Mgr of casino host, it's about gaming law on each state. It's 10 points in Vegas while same points counts as only 1 in Michigan. I noticed while I was in Vegas I was earring 100k points easily vs it will be only 10k here in Michigan. That's why they made making Noir membership "invite only" instead. Where before where you made 2 million points and you got Noir membership; people were making it easily in while playing in Vegas. Anyhow, I'm glad you had good time in MGM Detroit ..It's a decent casino. Also, earning EC is nice, isn't it?
