other things people have brought up

Does it have to pay union dues since all vegas bartenders are in a union now?

Does it have a TAM card?

How does it card you? (probally the girls in silver clothes)

How can it know to not overserve you?

on another note, someone said it took 26 minutes and in the end, they never got their drink

Well... they won't call in sick at the last minute, their grandma won't die 3 times in the same year, they won't get all pissy when you promote another robot over them, won't sleep with the cocktail waitresses and create internal drama and they certainly won't badmouth management all shift. A little oil, keep 'em plugged in and upgrade their software as needed!

As a recovering bar and restaurant owner, I have had every single one of those situations "happen" while stuck in the life ruining industry that is food and beverage..lol

HA! Glad... well maybe sorry... you can relate! Before I got into government, I owned and operated a couple pizza parlors for almost 20 years and while there were many, many positive experiences from the relationships built with staff, there were some real disappointments too. It's hard.

A minor point: The Tipsy Robots are in the Miracle Mile Shops, which are connected to Planet Hollywood.

I saw the signs that Tipsy Robot was coming soon, but I had no idea what it was. This does not interest me at all.

I just watched the YouTube video of the Tipsy Robot and that's horrifying. Now people are paying $14 a drink to be served by a freaking machine? And all the jobs that are going to be lost. This sucks.

Was there during the grand opening. They have a bar out front with 1 or 2 human bartenders in it. The robots make basic drinks, and the real bartenders make foo-foo drinks, more sophisticated libations, and they do their flair bartending a bit.

Things aren't going so well in the search for robotic CW's though...

Vicki from Small Wonder failed to impress on her recent "audition." :ssst:

Walked by this joint earlier in July. @BadKarma nailed it, there are human bartenders and servers running around as well. It's purely for the gimmick and the photo op, which is totally fine. I can imagine a lot of folks who are all about it just for the bit. You or I might not be, but I'd imagine some folks sure would be.

This is just the first step into a future where robots replace all service workers. We're all going to be living like people from the film Wall-E. I don't like it.

They might get my business for one drink if I'm winning, just to see it. I wish I could see the menu of the signature drinks. The tip is almost a deal killer, but I still want to see it. I have no fear that this will ever replace real bartenders.

What they should do is put some of these in the High Roller suites!

I think it's a great novelty and would have no problem with one in a casino.

As a society, I do not believe we really want this type of automation. Yet. Bartender-patron relationships are natural and welcoming.

This is a novelty, pure and simple. I witnessed this on a couple cruises last year. The first day of the cruise, the Robotic Bartenders were in full swing. People were curious and hung around testing it out. By day two, it was an abandoned area, people walking by it, not stopping. The complaints were the robotic arm was knocking over the cup and the liquid wasted down the drain. The technology was slow and waiting for your cocktail took 10 to 12 minutes to receive. Some glasses and cups were not full and the robotic arm would stall many times.

If I belly up to a bar, I want to see/hear/feel a human making my cocktail, not steel and hydraulics.

I'm pretty sure it's just a gimmick/novelty to (hopefully) bring in more people, there's still people who help the robots run who are making a living, and the human servers running around. The gratuity however I'm not sure about....maybe to go towards their upkeep cost? :drunk:

I for one can live with tipping the robot. It's got a one-bedroom off-Strip and it's just tryin' to get by.

I wouldn't worry too much--this is NOT a real bar. (actually, there IS a real bar on the end of the place that opens to the mall manned by a live bartender) It is an attraction. We stayed 5 nights at PH a few weeks ago. FEW people ever there, at any time, actually getting a drink made. I anticipate this to be short lived.
