Article says they won't replace actual bartenders, I say BS. It already takes away tips. I won't be using them, I would much rather have an actual person make my drink and tip them well, I just wanna support people who are trying to make a living.

A standard one-shot drink will run a customer $14, with tax and gratuity included in the price. Additional shots and garnishes can be added for an extra charge.

    Gratuity.

    GRATUITY?!

    It's a robot.

Please tell me I read this incorrectly.

I'm willing to bet that had to add that to get approval from the bartenders union to install them.

Yup. It will probably be an auto gratuity too, which no one will bat an eye at, since "of course you tip when you get a drink".

The receipt will look something like this...

    Cocktail: $14.00
    -----
    Subtotal: $14.00
    8.25% tax: $1.16
    20% gratuity: $2.80
    -----
    Total Payable: $17.96

I don't use self check-outs at grocery stores on principle, so there's no way in hell I would give something like this even a dime of my money.

I couldn't care less about the bartenders. (I'm a misanthrope...can you really expect me to give a shit?)

But as a alcoholic guy who enjoys the ocassional cocktail, I certainly don't care for carefully measured pours! I'll pass on this novelty and hope the practice doesn't spread. Though I can't imagine why it wouldn't. :(

IMO it's too slow & expensive.

$14 for a single shot drink? Of what???
Nasty rot-gut rail liquor served in a plastic cup?

    Gratuity for a robot .....

If this robot made could make complicated froo-froo drinks that looked instagram pretty FASTER & CHEAPER than a human bartender...then sure.

Whoever is their marketing person bombed. "Gratuity included?" For a machine? It would have been such a better angle to say "no gratuity needed".

I love sci-fi, but that does not extend to a machine that will pour me an "exact, not one drop more" drink and still infer gratuity is expected, included or not. No thanks.
