    D'OH!! that's it! pull over!!

Actually, my self esteem had somewhat returned after playing some 4 / 8 with the Doc at the Rio that afternoon.

p.s. that is a Boatload of smack (which I respect) from someone who went nappy-by instead of coming down and drinking for another three hours with the rest of us..... although you Did bring two hotties carrying cocktails up the room, so I guess it's a wash... Dammit! I lose again!!

Something I regret to this day - sleeping in Vegas  . Damn Patron (mixed with about a 1/2 gallon of "Terry" drinks and dozen beers). I should have just [IMG] & started over from scratch. :D

    Next batch!

Speaking of "shooting from parking garages," here are a couple more from atop the Mandalay Bay garage:

    Rio, across the freeway:

And, Luxor from the rear, if anyone's interested in seeing that:

Another shot of just the original Mandalay Bay tower:

Now, back on the ground, here's Mandalay Bay from the front, much later in the evening:

And, the obligatory Luxor front shot:

Here's a different take on the Luxor light:

And, another take on Mandalay Bay:

    Next!

Next bunch -- here's NYNY's Statue of Liberty:

And, just a bunch of stuff all squished together with a telephoto shot:

Moving a bit forward in time, here's Luxor at dawn:

    And, Mandalay Bay at dawn:

Ahh, yes, with the oh-so-photogenic "Advertise Here" sign front and center....

I'm wondering how much stock Thoots has in various airlines or gas companies, seeing as how these pictures are making all of us need to get back there sooner rather than later?

Thoots... more beauties - thanks! I really like the Luxor light with the Sphinx head.

The Stratosphere guards didn't go through my stuff very thoroughly -- I had a backpack chock-full of all kinds of camera gear. No "big tripod," of course, but I had an arsenal of tools buried down at the bottom:

    "The Pod:"

    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=245496&is=REG

"The Hakuba camera clip" -- a big "alligator clip" thingy:

    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=194963&is=REG

    A teeny "Ultrapod" tripod:

    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=239957&is=REG

And, finally, its 'brother,' the "Ultraclamp:"

    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=239972&is=REG

"The Pod" was the most useful on this trip, for the following shot and many others. It's just a "bean bag" with a camera mounting bolt, and I set my camera up on that and set it at the bottom of one of the Stratosphere tower indoor windows. Then, I snapped off about 400 shots (NOT kidding) as the sun went down, ultimately getting results like this:

It was too windy to really take any kind of a "long exposure" shot like this from the outside observation deck, even with any of my clips or clamps. And, heck, the whole tower is moving all over the place, at any rate -- you can really feel the thing move when the roller coaster is going around, and especially when they bring the X-Scream ride back to its "home" base. NOT for those who tend to get motion sickness, and it's kind of hard to get a stable long-exposure shot when the WHOLE DANG BUILDING is moving around! [IMG]

Enough for now -- I really ought to get started on the "trip report" part of this!

    Steve,

Right now, I'm just uploading to my personal web space and posting here. Once I get all of the pictures processed, I'll set them up in my PBase galleries:

    http://www.pbase.com/thoots

So far, I've processed maybe one-quarter of what I plan on processing, so I've still got a long way to go before I'm "done." You'll see the images here, first, as I get each batch processed! [IMG]

I never imagined how much Wynn would dominate the landscape from this view. I realize that it's in the foreground, but it makes TI & the like look like a HoJo.

Found my new desktop pic, LOVE! the Stratosphere shot. It's the first I've seen with Wynn lit up.

    Fabulous job!

Hmmm, so we like the big Stratosphere shot, eh?

How about a "dusk" version with a slightly tighter crop on the area? Here you go!

WOW!!! Thanks for posting what you have up to now. These are some absolutely amazing shots. The clearest, best-colored pictures I've seen not taken by a professional of Vegas.
