Trips to Las Vegas
20
After reading VMB, preparing for my 20th return in 4 years, VMB had me feeling a little off for my return.

Arriving Sat. the 14th, I was ready to test out taking Uber from the airport to Harrah's for the first time. After minimal confusion about where pick up was at, I found it and hit the Uber button on my phone. It asked me to create a new account, wait just two months ago I used it for the first time to get from Harrah's to the airport. WTF. Wait, an idea popped into my mind. Reboot the IPHONE. It worked. Requested a ride and got it for 10.67 and it arrived promptly. Greatt driver and great conversation.

Arrived at Harrah's and went to Diamond check in and was happy to get a upgrade to petite suite.

Had a blast blowing off much needed steam gambling and having fun.

The observations.... They tore out the slot machines across from Big Elvis by the exit to put in a second Starbucks. Was walking back in from breakfast at McDonald's having a cigarette as I passed the buffet and hit up for an extra, acted like I was deaf and the woman kept following me and asking, she tapped my shoulder and I turned around with a raised open hand. Was playing near the Total Rewards desk one morning when a female sat down slot to my right and whispered into my shoulder asking if I had an extra $5.00. I had $86.00 in my slot. I told her no. Saw her for the next hour going around asking other players. After an hour I saw her at the TITO machine cashing in tickets and then off to a a quarter machine. I walked past on my way to the restroom. She had 59 credits. When I came out of the restroom, she was gone. I never saw her again.

I had fun, not so much for others. Just thought it was funny how my trip reflected some of the recent threads on VMB that I read leading up to my trip.

Thanks for the Harrah's update. I still can't get into this Uber thing. Maybe it's just me, but a cab ride to the Strip costs me 13.00 bucks plus tip. I just tell them to use the streets, no tunnel. Never had a problem in 20 years of taking cabs in Vegas. I used to be a cab driver in NYC years ago, maybe I have a soft spot for the cabbies!!

I know I'm kinda the odd one out here but I have not joined Uber or Lyft either. I know both of them have their rabidly-loyal fans, including lots of friends and cow-orkers of mine, and plenty of folks here. For me, it's mainly the fatigue of joining this program, joining that program, installing yet another ap, etc., that's holding me back. (LOL, when they push the loyalty card at a donut shop you know it's getting bad! That's one place where I **DON'T** want my purchases tracked!) I guess I'm too set in my ways and I very seldom have any issues with doing a taxi. Latest unusual ride was when the driver was asking me for medical advice. :) :) :)

Hmmmmm . . .some people are just "bum gwai" (bum devil in Cantonese) magnets . . . that's never happened to me before, although it has been several years since I quit smoking.

I guess it is a state of affairs in the gambling community when a property will remove machines to install a Starbucks. Damn Millenials and their coffee.

That one amazed me too. And I loved sitting right up near the door there with the fresh air. I could understand if they had put it where they redid the junk shop that opens into casino & also to Strip. But taking out machines???

Thanks for the report.

So now the have 3 Starbucks at Harrah's the new one.. another back towards check-in and 3rd on the upper level by Toby Keith's.. wow!
