I've been a member of T2V for nearly 20 years and have gotten to know several posters over the years, some long gone, but many still here.
I wanted to share with those folks that my wife of 40 years of marriage, Kathy, died on Saturday from cancer. She never shared the same fascination for Vegas as me.
In fact, of the 60 or so trips I've made, she only accompanied me on two of them, in 2009 and 2019. But, thanks to this board, I was able to research and plan the ideal visit for someone like her that isn't into the glitz, glamour, gambling, desert heat, drinking and night life.
Both times we went in December and found there was plenty to do outside of that. She loves football, so it the Vegas Bowl each time, along with stops at Hoover Dam, Ethel M Chocolates and Cactus Garden, the Mob Museum, Cirq shows, Bellagio Fountains and Conservatory and MB Shark Reef.
Since she wasn't into the Strip atmosphere, we stayed at Eastside Cannery in a corner suite with a hot tub, which she enjoyed. Kathy even was okay taking in buffets with me, especially appreciating the dessert selections on the more upscale places.
It is lonely in the house now and I miss her dearly, but my situation isn't unique to what many of you have also experienced. Because of her illness, I hadn't been to Vegas for nearly a year, my longest dry spell. A return trip is planned for next month.
Besides the fellowship and support I enjoy in my hometown of Oregon, IL, it has also been a blessing to be a part of this cyber community. Even though Kathy wasn't into Vegas, I had all of you to share it with and that's pretty special to me.

    Andy,

My prayer for you is peace, comfort and strength during this journey. Smile for the memories and cry when you have to. And one day, during your trip: stop, look up and feel that Vegas sunshine on your face.
