I'm full of questions today! Just getting excited for my October trip. This past July I hit a couple of big baseball parlays, Around 5k each. When I cashed them in at the window the teller said "you want cash? I took cash, but didn't feel comfortable w that much $$ on me. What's the alternative? Will they print you up a check on the spot? I hope to have the same"problem" in October! Thanks a ton guys!!

This is correct. Be aware, however, that the few times I have taken chips, they are sportsbook chips. Meaning you can't then take them to a BJ table and start playing them. There is a process to change them over to table chips, but its a bit of a pain. you can use the book chips to continue making sports bets, or just cash them in at the main cage when you are ready

He was asking if you wanted to bet out of that, It's common practice whenever you cash a ticket, they always ask any bets?

and yes, they can give you chips, just like you can place a bet with casino chips.

I knew a guy that was a runner for a group of sports betters that would normally bet in 10K+ increments. He said he always took chips because it circumvented the IRS rule of tracking cash payments over 10K

I know a guy who does the same, although I always thought it was just for convenience in carrying it around. Eventually, the chips get cashed
