I'm heading out next month for the HP Discover conference and have requested an early check-in. Anyone have any experience with this? Hit or miss?

If you are a gold or platinum with Priority Club (Holiday Inn/IHG) they provide priority check in and late check out. They did recognize my status and we checked in around 10:00 am.

Cool, I'm also attending the same conference and wondered the exact same thing about the Palazzo.

Went to Gartner in December at the Venetian and wasn't able to check in until normal time (3-ish). Hope that isn't the case this time.

They told me $50 to move check out from 12pm to 2pm at Venetian .. needless to say I hung up at something so preposterous on a Sunday afternoon

I stayed there last year. I did not request an early check in, but was able to get into my room before noon. If it means anything, I did have the Prestige check in.

When I stayed at the Venetian last year I just asked nicely at the front desk and it was no problem to extend it to 1pm. I was also able to stay until 1pm at the Palazzo the year before.

Now this probably has everything to do with who you ask and how busy it is.

Well I am certainly not Platinum but I do arrive pretty early. Maybe that will help.
