I was one of his fans. Believe me, I was. I'm all for showmanship, marketing, etc. He's done a lot of good. I won't ever take that away from him. But, you only have to do 1 or 2 things wrong for long enough that it starts to cost you. And that's where he's headed. But, hey, I'm worth whatever I find in the laundry and he's worth more than that I'm sure. So, who's right?

Well, I mean, you are assuming that all the feedback he gets tells him the same thing.

But for everyone telling him "your casino is too loud", there is someone saying "this place is rocking, I want more!".

Not getting ones way does not necessarily mean one was not heard. As for local business people, I don't think you get to running 2-3 casinos and an entertainment venue all in one neighbourhood without making some enemies within local business.

I can accept that. I don't care about "getting my way". It's a take or leave it situation. And I'm choosing to leave it.

Exactly. Your goal, as an operator of almost any business, is to be the first choice of a large chunk of your desired customer base. Not an acceptable choice to a lot of your base. You don't stay at your third most desired hotel very often, nor do you eat at your second most liked Mexican restaurant all that often. You go with your first choice.

Derek must think he has a base of customers who like the party atmosphere. Someone is staying there. The longbar is usually doing well. Golden Gate is pretty busy for a grind ship. He has enough credibility in his financial statements to get loans from someone to help him knock down and replace LVC.

Benny probably has a few notches on his belt. His name will be gone from Fremont street in a few years.

Interesting, from last night's "State of the City" meeting Delboy was tweeting about the Mayor using the word "Gateway" and this foreshadowing plans for 18 Fremont, it's also been liked and retweeted by The D and GoldenGate accounts.

Perhaps a clue to the name of the new resort?

He also tweeted in favour the plans for a new freeway exit, which I believe will be right next to the 3 adjoining plots of land he now owns (ex-LVC, the 'car park' plot between Plaza and MSS, and the empty lot zoned for a casino the other side of the railway track).
