But first, a several-hour delay getting out of FAT. And now I have an even longer delay at SFO. Such is the price of paradise, I guess. Stay tuned ...
Ken You mentioned previously many trips to Kauai as well; been to Maui once and in another 18 months will retire. My wife and I plan to spend 6 or so weeks in Hawaii with stop overs in Las Vegas. Do you have a preference for either of the islands. From WI (drive fast by the way) and any time away from the cold is well spent, but if it can be better spent!! PS: Just got back on Monday from Fresno after attending a wedding there on Saturday. Nice airport, but the AC seemed to be turned off? Ken
@ken2v enjoy the trip. I am sure you will have a great time once you get there. Problem is united believes they should get your blood pressure up before the plane takes off
We rate Kauai and then Hawaii Island at the top of the list. Not huge fans of Oahu. Check em all out and see what shines for you. We might’ve passed at FAT today.
I think it depends on what type of vacation you want. Some people don't like Kauai as much. Kauai is a good place to chill out and do nothing but relax but if you are looking for stuff to do like night life, shopping, etc, then Kauai might be too slow for you. I do like to golf on Kauai but I can do just as well on Maui or the Big Island. I'm originally from Maui and lately it's been real touristy, especially in the kihei/Wailea and Lahaina areas. The Big island (Hawaii Island) I like, there is so much to do and see. But since most islands are pricey (esp hotels) many islanders rather fly to vegas instead. Ken, hope you brought your fan to Maui. Still warm/hot so you really need the a/c. This is unusual, most of the time by December the temps are reasonable but this year is hot and a little muggy.
Yep. Folks who don't check 'em all out don't realize that each has its personality. Now, they are more similar than alike, as each island has its "slow" side(s), even as Honolulu is LA/OC with a far better beach. I'm always amazed when I meet locals, notably younger ones, who've never been off the home island or outside the islands.
Maui? Wow-wee! +1 for a good Mai Tai. The mere mention of it transports me back to a grass hut on Hilton Head. Have a blast, any bike rentals on the island?
We're here for the re-opening of the Plantation Course at Kapalua. Golf golf golf ... and of course food.
