My brother and I will be in Vegas Super Bowl weekend and are looking for an excellent steakhouse with an old school vibe. The loser of our season long NFL picks against the spread will be paying. We are staying at Mirage and don’t mind taking an Uber if the place is off strip. Previous trips I’ve eaten at Heritage, Craftsteak, carnevino, Gallaghers, STK, Delmonico, BLT, and a few others. Want to try something different this time.

Is Circus Circus still good? Golden Steer? Any other recommendations?

Golden Steer is great but a bit ex$pen$ive.

The one we discovered is more old-school than anything else, 'cuz it's the oldest operating restaurant in Las Vegas, and that's Bob Taylor's Ranch House, waaaaayyyyy northwest on Rio Vista Street (major cross streets are Ann and Tenaya) and it puts the Strip steak places to shame and is much less expensive!

Hugo's Cellar @ Four Queens is very old school, and good food.

I went to the Golden Steer with my brother and friend last year for the same reason - we wanted an old school steakhouse experience. We thought it was "alright". Sure, it's expensive but probably not out of line with other steakhouses on the strip. The vibe was definitely old school with a classic menu. Service was "alright" and the food was very good but I definitely would not say it was "great". Would I recommend it? Not sure, but if pressed I would say "meh".

If you're staying up at mirage, The Steakhouse at CC checks the boxes for excellent, old school, and close.

The Steakhouse at Circus Circus fits the bill, but the rest of Circus Circus is pretty dumpy.

I guess I shouldn't comment on Hugo's Cellar since I haven't been there (yet), but Andiamo's at the D is currently my favorite steakhouse downtown. I've eaten there . I consider Hugo's Cellar to be a "date place", so the next time I'm entertaining an ENRF (Eligible Non Related Female), I will spend my $300 in comp money there . . . . .

I've eaten at Andiamo's over 10 times and always had a good meal there.

I will be eating (with friends) at BLT Steak next week, so I can report on whether or not it has an "old school" vibe.

Well, Canada and Massachusetts are closed, back to Lake Tahoe
Oh what the heck, I've got vacation and myVegas points to burn. . . .

not old school but absolutely the best value in vegas with unlimited wine pairings and a 3 course excellent cut of the week menu, charlie palmer in the four seasons is just outstanding. so figure with a very good tip total dinner will be $150, so that leaves you both more money to bet on the game. good luck

It does not. Unlike Bally's Steakhouse that it replaced, BLT has a much more modern and contemporary vibe.

I'd absolutely have given Andiamo or V&A, if asked for the best steakhouse DT.

I spend 2 1/2 weeks of my annual 4 week trip DT, and Hugo's has the most old school feel of all the places I've eaten at.

We enjoy The Strip House at Planet Hollywood a lot. Love the vibe there, very old school with the seating and celebrity pictures around.. The service has always been outstanding, great food, huge sides and deserts. Our two favorite steak houses are Strip House and G.R. Steak at Paris, which has a modern feel to it.

If I’m understanding this correctly, you just want to eat at an old school place and do not want to be there to watch the three hour Super Bowl, correct? A few of the downtown steakhouses do offer a cheap $9-$12 prime rib dinner and two have a very affordable Tbone or porterhouse dinner, one was $18 and the other was $25...even with a few glasses of wine, it’s about the same cost as Charlie palmers

Correct. Not looking to watch the game. Want a quality old school vibe place to eat out either Saturday or Monday night. Want high-end quality in an old school place. Not looking for a cheap option.

I suggest three...One single drink at the bar at one restaurant , head to dinner at another restaurant and have a post meal drink at the bar of another restaurant ...As pointed out Hugo’s, Andiamo, V&A and also Binions...They’re all very close/easy walks...YouTube them all so you know what you’re getting yourself into...You cannot make a bad decision but by going to all three it’s a very memorable experience and you won’t feel like you missed out on any them.

Seconding Bob Taylor's. If you are going to go old school, go old school.

Old School Vegas = Fremont Street. We finally went old school in September and hit Binions 20170918_182609.jpg . Love it. Our bill for all of this was just 150 bucks.

Circus Circus hands down. Michael was our waiter all 3 times we have been (by request of course).
