Darn, only open to people physically in Alberta at the time of drawing Seems like there may be increased interest in moving these 50/50-type raffles online for other teams/sports too... it appears to have worked like gangbusters for the Oilers organization

 

Ontario had online 50/50's for quite a while now, Alberta just followed suit due to zero attendance allowed. Availability is regulated by the provinces gaming boards, and is indeed open only for the respective province residents. I do see other provinces follow suit, though. Not sure what the regulations south of the border are, if state or federally regulated.

 

How would you like to hit this 50-50 winner?? A little pent up demand from a Province that takes hockey seriously.

Wow. Can people from out of province buy tickets? I know they usually go much higher in Alberta than in Ontario.

 

Macker tried getting on last night for quite awhile but I don't he got through. That has gotta be among the biggest 50-50 draws ever?

We also have two things in Canada that the fabulous US simply does not. Free health care (yes our taxes are about 25% higher than America so it's sorta not free) and NO taxes on lotteries!!!! So all that money made someones in Alberta pretty darn swell.

 

As I understood it, open to Albertan's only. Not gonna lie, something about 50-50 draws at hockey games for Canadians generally sets us over the edge. On any given night in Edmonton or Calgary a good 50-50 gets up to $40000 in the actual arena. Edmonton has had them over $100000 though before.

 

Did you manage to get a ticket? And any idea what a Leaf's game 50-50 jackpot might be going for? Now that we can't go to Vegas, we gotta get our gamble on anyway we can I guess.

Alberta 50/50's are open for Alberta residents only, Toronto Raptors 50/50 for Ontario residents and so on.

 

Apparently this draw broke a 50/50 world record... but wait until the next game! The Flame(r)s only managed $98K in their 50/50 yesterday!
And no, our taxes are not 25% higher than in the US, but a few points higher. And I am glad we don't have withholding tax on any winnings, as it should be!
