I think obstruction of the Fremont Street view is a bigger impact than crowd flow.

Don't hold your breath. Just earlier this week I saw an article that said revenue from the FSE zip lines was high enough that the downtown casinos no longer have to chip in membership fees to cover the FSE costs, like they used to in the past. You can bet for sure, the zip lines aren't going anywhere soon.

Lines seem full at nights when I checked so as long as it makes money it'll stay

Actually I think the decision will be made by the FSE people.

The Circa/GG may have a say but the FSE people make the final decision.

One of the reasons for the Main St. stage is because the Plaza refused to participate in the FSE so the FSE people put up the stage to "ice" out the Plaza. Let's hope that the Plaza again participates in the FSE thing so they get rid of the stage but from what I hear that doesn't seem likely.

Looks like they are setting the next pool section. I live the webcam but wish they could show the tower going up as well.

Very interesting if true. I noted in another post that I read in the last 2 weeks that due to the zipline income (the FSE group owns the ziplines), the FSE group no longer requires FSE member casinos to pay fees to the organization. If so, then they might keep the Plaza out of the organization out of spite, since no one is paying a fee now, the Plaza probably would love to join for free.

I thought the giant section they installed today was a pool but I now think it's a wall or whatever is between the pools on the renderings. Right behind the crane is an outline for one pool.

I watch this webcam on a spare monitor while I work. I agree we need to see more tower

Okay, this is something that I don’t think adds up at all, for multiple reasons. Sure, I can see how putting the stage up in the first place was intended in part to be a bird flipped at the Plaza. I’ll accept that. But that was how many years ago? And in that time, the Plaza has continued to Plaza along as it has for a long time. In the meantime, LVC is torn down and it’s being replaced by the first new resort on FSE since the Nixon Administration, being built by an outfit that already has two properties on FSE and is given credit for totally revitalizing Downtown. Now, I have no idea how Stevens feels about the bandstand — I’m just guessing that it’s considered a negative from his point of view, and he could easily have plans that incorporate it. But if he wants it gone, I think there’s no way that people are going to say no Derek, you are going to continue to be stuck with a giant crowd blocking movement between the two properties you own there. For the purpose of continuing to ice out the Plaza, which I can’t imagine even cares at this point. That would be a matter of cutting off your benefactor’s nose to spite someone else’s face.

Well, and no matter the window composition, I can’t believe those rooms facing Fremont Street wouldn’t be negatively affected from the noise (BASS). I would think.

Don't forget that when Vegas Club was there, they didn't pay for FSE either. The stage went there to screw both LVC and Plaza. I'm sure given Derek's contributions and relationship with FSE management, they might consider getting rise of it or moving to a different part...maybe the opposite end by white Castle?

I mean, here's what the setback looked like when LVC was there. There are all kinds of ways that they might deal with this, but anything close to this is not going to be okay for Circa, I would have to believe.

My guess is that all of this has been worked out already.

I think there are solutions that don’t involve getting rid of the zip-line drop off point. And of course, the zip line drop off point has moved once already.

    Same owner so...shrug.

I'm with the thought that whatever Derek deems should happen with it, will happen. I just hope he wants it GONE!

Let's just wait and see. Yes Derek will have a major say in what goes on in front of his casino. But also understand that he owns the GG and the stage is still there.

Anyway, no sense speculating, if the stage stays, it stays, if not, it's gone.

For me, it doesn't matter if the stage stays or goes, I hardly stick around long enough on the FSE anyway.

The outdoor stages drive drink revenue from the outdoor bars. That makes them a profit center. Binions wouldn't have expanded Whiskey Licker, Golden Gate wouldn't have a huge outdoor bar, just like Four Queens and The D if the stages didn't drive booze sales. I would assume Circa will have another big outdoor bar selling drinks to people watching the bands -- most likely one for both the First Street and Main Street stages.

If I ran the zoo, that Main St stage would be gone, as well as that monstrosity eye-sore, 'Slot-Zilla'.
(I'd also reduce the street vendors by half).

If I could, I'd extend the canopy all the way east, to just before Container Park, & add a 'spur' canopy on 3rd street, all the way to the Mob Museum. At the same time, I'd completely privatize the entire 'under-canopy' area, and rent-out the busker-circles to those with enough talent to justify the rent because their expected tips would exceed that rent.

    ...but that's me.

I actually have a feeling the canopy will extend one of these days.

I am intrigued by your ideas and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

Sounds like the Fremont is going to focus on casino improvements/expansion instead of a new hotel tower, and you would hope that some improvements to that godawful 3rd Street walkway to Ogden could come with that. I wouldn’t bet on a canopy spur, but if DTG were to participate in FSE maybe that could happen some day.
