My girlfriend and I both 21, stayed at Excalibur from Oct. 5-9 (2006). I turned 21 back in may but had never been while legal, my girlfriend turned 21 on Oct. 6. We live in Orange California and decided to drive up. We rented a car from Enterprise and got a pretty good deal. Payed about 149 (before isnurance) for the 3rd to highest class car. Ended up getting a brand new Dodge Caliber. That was our first win, it is an awesome car with 135 miles on it and very spacious two front seats. I did not even half to put my seat all the way back and I am 6:4 250ish.

We departed about 1pm and planned on hitting the Fashion outlet in Primm, and than moseying to Vegas afterwords. The fashion outlets are very nice. I had been there before and still really like them. My personal favorite there is the Fossil outlet. Stayed in Primm until about 6 or so. The sun was setting while we driving to vegas. Perfect time to drive in. It may have been because it was thursday but the drive was nice. Hit excalibur a little earlier than I had hoped, but I had my contingency plan to keep us entertained until she turned 21. My plan was sopranos season 5 disc 2. We watched all three epsiodes and than made our way down stairs.

We left a little bit later than i would have hoped because I wanted to have her like take a drink and gamble right when it hit 12:01. We ended up being hungry so we decided to eat at McDonalds. It was getting really late and instead of rushing I told my girlfreind we should just relax and enjoy our meal. When it turned 12:00 I gave her a really big kiss and said happy birthday. We mosied down to the bar and she got a strawberry margarita and I got a long island. (nieither of us were carded). We waltzed around the casino floor playing slots and just surveying what was available. We did that for about 2 and half hours and than went back up to the room.

The next morning or aroud 11 we both went down to the pool. Which was where i discovered our first mistake. I only brought about 200 in cash. Which was enough for the first night, but i had about 1800 on my debit card. Vegas hotels, inside of casinos, resturaunts inside all seem to have this vendeta against debit cards (With credit card logos). The bartender at the poolside cocktail place told me I had to pay with cash. I asked if he could charge it to the room, he said sure than turned around after checking and said, "There is no credit on your account you have to pay with cash". I did not have any on me so i went to the front desk put a $50 credit on our room account, and walked back. I ordered a margarita and a pina colada. I told him to charge it to the room again. He said it still showed no credit!! Than, I assume because the drinks were made He said i could pay wioth credit card! Moral of that story. Bring cash. All ATMs inside casionos charge between 10-20 dollars to get between 50-200 dollars out. This outrageous to me.

After teh pool we went upstairs and took a nap. Something I dont normally do but worked amazingly in vegas. We than went over to the mandalay bay to see the shark reef. More expensive than i thought it would be but well worth it. Interesting animals, my favorite was the jellyfish tank and the kimono dragon(i think, the large lizard). We then went to stratosphere. I drove. Nice casino i thought. Than I drove us to Downtown (froget the streets name). We walked around there. Nothing to big to note about it. Good for a short night trip but wouldnt want to hang out down there all the time.

After downtown we stopped at the IHOP on Las Vegas boulevard. Mistake not a huge one but still a mistake. More expesnive with much poorer service than one of the hotel cafes, at least eh food was decent.

We went back to the room had a couple of drinks. She started getting tired, so she went to bed i told her i was still awake. So i went down to the casino floor. I walked around and eventually found a 5 cent keno machine. The 4th or 5th game i played 8 numbers and hit 7 with 5 credits played. I won a little more than $1800. :wiggle: :thumbsup: Anyways they asked for my ID and social security # and and brought back my cash and a tax form in like 10 minutes. I walked up to our room. Woke my girlfreind up had her close her eyes and laid all 16 $100 bills and 20s in fornt of her. She was disoriented and it didnt click that i had won. I was still wired and stayed up until about 5 in the room. To put the money in perspective. That is about 15% of my yearly income.

Next morning we woke up and walked across teh way to New York New York. We walked around played some slots and than at a pizza place there. I think it was called Sizzoris, IDK it started with s and ended with 's . It was really good. I highly recommend it. We saw the signs for zumanity and my gf said if she won more than $100 that day we would go see it. Played rapid roulette at New York New York. It was very fun I ended up winning about $60 on it. We than walked across to MGM which has a ginormous casino floor. We played slots again, and some keno machines, I won about $90 on keno. We walked by some high limit slots and she wanted to play she put in about $50, first she hit a couple of bars and got 10 credits. Than a couple of pulls later she hit the 100 pay balloons. Ended up being about $555 when she cashed out. Needless to say that was fun. We walked back across to New York New York and bought $80 tickets to zumanity for that night.

We went back to Excalibur and took a nap. Walked back across teh street for our 7:30 show of zumanity. It was very interesting, tastefully sexual, and the host/clown was hilarious. The acts themselves werent up to par as far as Cirque u solie shows go but it was very different and good times. After zumanity we drove over to Harrah's because my gf said she wanted to. Harrah's was probably my favorite casino there. Cielings were a little low so the air quality was lower but everything else about it was great. If you get a chance play roulette there with Bob as your dealer or w/e its called (asian middle aged). He is awesome, hell make it fun even if youre losing. We stayed at Harrahs for about 6hours and ate right next store at chipotle and the pizza place somewhere in there. My gf also got this awesoem peach drink in one fo those big purple cups. We went back to the hotel, i did the same thing this night when she went to bed minus the big win and add in roulette.

There's a time limit on editing posts. If it's urgent/important, you can always ask a moderator or administrator to help out. In this case, just adding to your thread was probably the best solution. And, great TR so far:thumbsup:
 
continuing on.

We woke up on sunday and wanted to eat at the Carnival World Buffet at the Rio. Have been eating there every vegas trip since i can remmeber. Awesome buffet i highly recommend it. DOnt have their milshake machine anymore though. Also, try their bannana kiss or coral crush drinks. Both big, tasty, alcholic and inexpensive. After that played at Rio. didnt do too well. So we drove over to palms. Which apparently, is the premeir hot young people hotel. DIdnt like it. CAsino floor was long and narrow. Im into wider or more circular casino floors. More expensive. everyone seemed to be having a bad time there. So we moved on from there fairly quickly too.

Next I also wanted to go to Hard Rock, which i had heard basically nothing but good things about. Kinda far off strip but not excessive, definetly not walkable. Not too attractive outside. Inside it is very nice i thouhgt. As i said i like circular casinos and this is one. ALthough it is the smallest casino floor i saw it was well set up given the space. Slots in and out of the outside rings. Than some slots/ video poker in another layer in. Than table games, and a bar on the inside ring. Kinda fun, although its small you can still get lost in it and feel like your not being watched. Would go back, worht a day or night trip. After this we went back to Excalibur. Were gonna get drunk and gamble for our last night. First we had soem drinks in the room. Well worth it. get a sligth buzz and then went and ate at regale italian restaraunt (we had a $20 dining credit). Cant say enough about this place. Was amazingly romantic for being right up the main escolator. Great food. Good prices. Bar tender makes a special drink call apples and oranges. Ask for it. its awesome. KInda did what people do at casinos drank and gambled. Lost money. like 2-300 but it was all good.

Next day woke up at about 9 checked out and on the road by 1020. She had a test later that day and we still wanted to stop at stateline again. We ate at the cafe in buffalo bills. I played keno. Hit the catch all 3 #'s won another $336. Went to the fashion outlet mall one more time. bought some lottery tickets at the little store right there and made our way back.

Pros:
-Tipping, extremelly rewarding even in ways you dont know
-Pizza in new york new york and regale italian restaraunt in excalibur
-Having our own car
-CASH Dont depend on debit cards
-Playing gambling games that you enjoy
-taking a nap in the late afternoon
-Excalibur, MGM, Zumanity, Harrahs, Keno
-bringing alcohol for room (seven up and two hard alcohols worked well for us:cheers: :drunk: )

Cons:
-Not having enough cash (ATMs) 10% or more in cash out. try walgreens if you need an ATM
-Palms, downtown, IHOP
-Driving on strip between 6-10
-Leaving :cry:
 
Great TR. Going to Vegas when you're 21 is like going to Disneyland when you're 8 you can finally enjoy everything. I agree about the Palms when we were there we didn't get a real good vibe about the place.
 
Nice TR! Congrats on the wins! I hope to do even a 1/3 of that this trip. That would be pretty fun to turn 21 on a casino floor and slip in a bill to a machine and order a drink. You'd WANT to get carded lol :thumbsup:

She doesnt have it as bad as me but we both had an awesome time. Even without the winning vegas was very good to us. I've already started looking into another trip in teh second week of june after school :) \o/
 
it's amazing how addicting Vegas is! You two had a great trip, the first time you're legal is always the best. Thanks for sharing--oh yeah and congrats on the win!

And I agree with you about Palms. I've never gotten a good vibe in there, and never done well in there either. Now I avoid it like the plague.

Man I am finally going back I didn't realize its gonna be almost 3 years!!

Now that I make more money I am bringing more and thus will probably lose more and not win big jackpots at all. :beer: I LOVE VEGAS. This time we are going with another couple too. I'll be sure to make another trip report because I found doing so really rewarding and it was nice to give back and replay our trip at the same time.

I don't know what my fascination with writing the word "than" rather than "then" was.
