I was browsing through the NYNY website and found a "Platinum Cocktail Hour" in the high limit room bar every Friday from 5:00-7:00 PM for Mlife gold and platinum members, has anyone been to this?

It's really no big deal, or at least it isn't to me. When I stay there, I always hang out at that bar, so I guess that's why it's nothing special to me. Plus you always get free drinks anyway, so the happy hour means nothing either. Sometimes they have a few hors d’oeuvres and "Vinny" their figurehead is usually there talking to everyone. I really do like that bar though, it's very comfortable, so IMO it's worth going to whether it's during the "happy hour" or not.

I usually only play $50 and rarely $75 pai gow poker, so I've never been to the high limit room, but I'll be staying in NYNY on a Friday and heading to Craftsteak for dinner that evening. Was wondering if that would be an opportunity for a couple of complimentary cocktails to start of the night during the cocktail hour or if it's only for those gambling in the high limit room?

I've been to this happy hour  a couple of times in the past year or so. I met "Vinnie" at the first one, but he was a no-show at the other.
A couple of the Casino Hosts were at each. A good way to meet and chat with a new host.

No need to gamble, it's more like a social hour. Just order a drink from the gorgeous bartender, and mingle. :drunk:

Getting read to make trip to NYNY and came across the wording on the website about the Cocktail hour in High Limit Bar. One person mentioned getting free drinks there most of time anyways. Is that for Noir or Plat? Do you have to be playing all the time to get drinks in there?

I have been there a two times, however, never bought a drink. A couple of hosts were hanging out, and they simply hang about hand-shaking.

The actual bar is in the High Limit area - which is basically a few tables in an area just off the main casino, in a quiet(er) section.

Hey, nostresshere, did you get your accommodation suites worked out? What did they do for you - Ziggurat or Penthouse?

Been told we are getting penthouse. We will see. Weekday arrival should help.

There are several penthouses. If I am not mistaken, they all have names such Drake, Plaza, etc. You may want to ask which one you are getting. The Penthouse suites are a big step up from the Zig suites. The High Limit bar is a nice comfortable place for a drink. The happy hour is nice as the NYNY hosts are generally quite nice. The bartenders at the HL bar are the best! Once they know you are a gambler, you generally will not pay for a drink during your trip. Finally, NYNY does not have that many black chip and up players. So, when the "list" of invited guests goes out to the pit bosses and HL room dealers, usually everyone knows you and greets you. Nice touches.
