I saw this and it's a difficult thing to process. Thank you, @amk121.
Such a beautiful piece of architecture, artwork and history. So very sad.

So very sad. I was fortunate to visit it about 20 years ago. Such a beautiful Church!

Much of the rest of it is predicted to collapse in the coming hours

Very sad. Attended Mass/received Holy Communion there in 2013.

My son is there right now! He just went to Notre Dame on Saturday. He is a little shaken, witnessing this terrible tragedy.

Yes! :( We have it on here. Looks like a tragic loss of much of the structure. :( They are saying they are trying to rescue artwork and artifacts in the building.

I would be surprised if they were able to save any remaining artwork that is still in the building. With the roof collapsing in and the smoke and water damage, it would be pretty amazing if they are able to save any of it. Sure hope I am wrong!

I was fortunate enough to visit last year. I hope it’s salvageable.

Yikes - looks pretty horrendous. I managed to get there a couple times in my travels. Hard to believe that building was started @1,000 years ago.

It’s such a treasure and a big part of Paris and French history, started building it in 1160. It really is very hard to watch.

Heard they are estimating over a billion to rebuild but the art and history can never be replaced. Such a sad day.
