    My Trip Report

Preparing to leave for the airport in an hour for my 8:45 PM flight to the promised land. Don't expect any excitement but will drop a note from time to time to document the damage. Only plans are gambling, drinking and relaxing, but you never know. Hopefully some jackpot porn. Staying in three hotels I've never stayed at before. Maybe check out some new food outlets if I remember to eat. Stay tuned but don't expect too much.

Safe arrival after a bumpy flight and a confused Lyft driver. Liking the Golden Gate suite so far. Very stylish! 20170507_223350.jpg

Crashed quite late but, of course, still woke up very early. Thought about trying to get back to sleep but someone had set the alarm so I decided it was an omen. Took a bit of brain activity to figure out the Keurig and the rain head shower but both hit the spot.

Back in the room after a couple hours of hit and run gambling and up about $50 for the day. After last night, I will take it. Ended up at McDonalds for breakfast as I remembered I still had a gift card from there I had never used. Once again, it hit the spot.

Think I will head out again shortly and give the maid a shot at tidying up. Thinking a nap this afternoon might be good. Will check back in if anything exciting happens.

So...much beer bewilderment since last we left our hero. Had a couple decent hits yesterday but mostly just lost...and drank. Passed out at like 6 for several hours. Lack of sleep caught up with me. Today I mostly explored the north end of the Strip, playing $20, double or nothing, wherever I went. No big wins but didn't do too bad. Instead of a narrative, let me share some things I have learned that may help you.

If you ignore my advice and decide that walking from downtown to the Strip is actually a good idea, do it early In the morning. Much cooler and the sketchy people are mostly still asleep.

Lucky Dragon is, for lack of a better word, cute. It is also a tiny casino. I got the $8 in free play like everyone else. Had a bit of trouble getting it to download on my machine.

If you ever decide to walk over to Westgate, cross Paradise at Karen Ave. From there, just follow the monorail track to the front entrance. Much easier than walking all the way down to the main entrance, which is designed for cars, not people.

SLS is still really nice and the people are friendly and the restaurants are good. And there is no one there.

Circus Circus is like an old man on a ventilator. It is only a matter of time. On a positive note, both the slot club booth and bathrooms were right inside the main entrance. But that is about it. Found one casino bar and sat down. Was served promptly but the machine first wouldn't take my newly minted card. When I tried to cash out, it said I needed to wait for a $17.50 handpay. That took forever. Then a couple machines refused the $10 bill the attendant had just given me. Slots of Fun is a shell of its former mediocrity. The place is falling apart.

If it has been a few years since you played there, you might want to see if you have dropped out of the computers at Binions and Casino Royale. I did. Some good sign up freebies at Binions and a "lose your first $20, we will reimburse you another $20" promotion at Casino Royale. Binions also has Lagunitas on tap at their main vp bar.

Had breakfast at Binions cafe (free from their spin to win promotion) and it was OK. Had 800 Degrees pizza for lunch at SLS. Really enjoy that place.

I had never noticed before but the Walgreens downtown does not sell alcohol. Best bet is the ABC store next to Golden Gate.

Speaking of Golden Gate, the suites are nice enough but not spectacular. It looks cool but is not as functional as it should be. Layout is odd, light switches are confusing. Still one that appears to do nothing. Not a big fan of the shower. Couch is comfortable enough for chilling and watching some TV but no place to set your beverage and pretty poor channel selection. I love how quickly you can go from room to Fremont Street and, again, the staff is super. But, honestly, I think it is a bit overpriced. Would I stay here again? Sure, but only if it was free or almost free.

Going to just relax tonight. Tomorrow I will move over to Paris and am looking forward to checking it out. Have a new Burgundy room comped but am hoping to use my wit and charm to upgrade to a suite. Will keep you all informed. Until then, have a great week!

Checked into my comp room at Paris and the nice lady at Diamond check-in upgraded me to remodeled P-room on the 24th floor. Very nice with partial fountain view and, actually a partial view of most all mid-Strip with the exception of Ballys. I can see more than I want of it. Had breakfast at the D Grille this morning and was good and quick. Gambling is not going badly so far but no big wins. Will update later.

So taking advantage of the peculiar free room I had at Bellagio tonight. Very nice room. Apparently I have a $50 resort credit so I just ordered room service. Pictures to come.

Long night of drinking and gambling that ended in some bad karaoke and possibly dancing at Yolo's in PHo. Really like the hotel at Paris but, for most any other purpose, I prefer the Planet. I think that may be my Strip home going forward.

Room at the Bellagio was awesome. Bed was maybe the best I've slept in in Vegas. Jetted tub. Great view. I just don't like the casino. Wrong vibe for me. Probably a one time thing unless I was entertaining a female guest.

No significant good fortune on this trip. Always nice to have a couple days where you don't lose your budgeted bankroll. Today is going pretty fair so maybe it will be a winner. Last day is probably the best day to win because you don't have time to give it all back.

Playing Total Rewards roulette today and checking out the Diamond lounges along the way. In fact, I am in the one at Caesars right now. Great bartender named Richard and very comfortable. Harrahs was also pretty nice. No real food to speak of at this early hour but people are friendly.

Just planning to drink and gamble the rest of the day unless I win big. Then there will be hookers and blow. Heading back tomorrow.

Back to reality after a long travel day. Yesterday turned out to be the best day of the trip. Worked my way back to the Tag bar at Linq and spent the next couple of hours hitting quads while, get this, playing Double Double Bonus. Tried 4 very good beers thanks to a great bartender who hooked me up. Said he has worked on the property for 19 years. Somehow ended up singing karaoke again but this time at the Harrahs piano bar. Good fun! Tried the Gordon Ramsey Fish n Chips place and In n Out. Both were tasty but a little overpriced. Continue to think I need to stay at the Linq as there are so many mid-range food outlets that look good along the Promenade. Will likely share some final thoughts in the next day or two. Hope all few of you enjoyed following along.
