    My Trip Report

only partner gambles and she lost, but free food and hotel makes it about even for trip.

Couldn’t wait any longer so pay for a flight with BA which of coarse triggered a price reduction across other airlines was 470 to las only 350 to lax so paid extra to BA 600 for direct and goodish timings (all uk pounds).

Heathrow connect 11.60 return, but station next door to me so paid the man. Check-in on line ok, Terminal 5 dedicated BA quiet and efficient except a shuttle and long walk to gate why build a new terminal that has to have a shuttle on opening?, the long jet-way walls look like they have been put up to hide construction.

Flight full ok, still free alcohol served, arrived 20 min’s late, 45 mins. Through airport, taxi to Paris via Swason less than $15 so $20 with tip, Diamond check-in ok, room ok no view but we don’t care, 27 floor big flat TV, coffee pot, quiet, separate bath/shower 5 days here comp.

No steak and eggs specials in CEP's hotels that I can see so Bills 1100pm to 1100am $8.99 just ok and couldn’t charge it to the room.

Picked up car from Hertz in Harrahs complained that I couldn’t pick up later and as the desk closed at 5pm and I wanted to return to the airport at 19-00 plus I lost an hour ‘day light saving time’ change. She was not playing, nothing she could do, once she checked me in the clock was running, gave up but didn’t take the tank of gas or the road side assistance she offered "what you are hiring me a car that may breakdown" . So I only got what I paid for no free upgrades no extra time to drop bags before returning car. Not feeling like the Vegas I remember of course we can do that for you sir

Need some vegas so off to Meadows Mall and Walmart for retail therapy, my UK Nokia sat-nav works well only slight problem windscreen mount is too far away to see (mpg and wind tunnels I guess)

Steak House at Ballys, complimentary Champaign and a filet mignon and we are back in Vegas. Nice easy atmosphere, steak house and not fine dinning, no pouncing about, good food served well.

Not too well 24 hour bug probably food poisoning from an old doughnut, still not sure, off to Imperial Palace 3 days casino rate $70 total, longggggg check-in queue, about an hour, cheated and went to diamond check-in, all well with room $20 trick worked mini suite, air con on casino roof a little noise, I know it’s now out of fashion and they are little rough but I like the tiny balcony, you can ‘stand outside’

Late night deal in harrahs is in the kgb burger and vodka bar $9 for burger and fries in a basket with a soda in a jam jar, loud music fishnet waitresses, a little too modern/fashionable/hip/happening/radical/street for me and 70% of the other dinners who where over 40 and looked as uncomfortable as I was.

An attempt to improve the food, off to circus circus steak house, its Monday be warned, on arrival some panic between the front of house staff about the computers down with no power first clue,

ordered two filet minion one medium one medium/well, salads arrived very quickly with the fixings for the baked potato clue 2?

When clearing salad warned there would be a delay of 8 mins. Clue 3

Music came on and 2 maintenance guys left just as our steaks arrived clue 4

medium was medium/rare and the medium/well was rare so sent it back, returned the same piece meat this time perfectly cooked for medium/well steak sauce tasted burnt so left it alone clue 5

ordered a slice of cheese cake which arrived with the check clue 6 .

paid a full check no account taken of mistake only left 10% tip which waiter seemed grateful for. On leaving said how we go there for the charcoal grill taste WHAT CHARCOAL GRILL TASTE? CLUE 7

Now convinced they had it cooked in another kitchen by a lesser chef, its not so much the lack of service as the deception by omission, it is sad because some of the best food we have had has been here and will try and put it down to my bad luck and Monday night dinning, we had an ok meal for $100 rather than excellent food at exceptional value for money which we normally have there.

Go to harrahs for 2 days comp. back home small tv, small room, shower over bath but it feels like home, still poor food in harrahs though, arrived late cold and reheated double dip chips (fries)? , off to Laughlin for weekend major road works on casino drive, harrahs 26 floor suite with lift dedicated to suites, better food, partner wins alittle, back to las vegas via Hoover dam and new bridge photos, flamingo last 3 nights comp. normal go room but with good view, back to circus steak house to try again a little better but not what it was, new management?, good Chinese food in bills casino victoria room and can charge it to flamingo room so partners gambling pays. Little more shopping then off to airport and cold wet London

    thoughts
need a new best steak house
vegas still busy but less food specials on strip
internet way too expensive in room
diamond lounge for internet but not food, had a few mudslides ok

    flamingo diamond check-in

Add on forgot mention Flamingo check-in fun 4 pm sunday so not early, got to room to find maid going in to service room, back to check-in, sat in check-in while receptionist said he would check room himself, came back 15 mins later room is now ready, back up to room, key not working, I am about to lose it, so sheelagh goes to check-in for 3rd. time, ‘Oh it must have reset when maid finished’ still no apology but the receptionist ‘pressed the flesh’ and said ‘you are going to be lucky now’ any chance of litigation? it was not true. I think he miss read how familiar he should be with us. Also asked for room to be serviced while we had dinner one night but it also failed to register, nice view but not able to open window (a pain when partner smokes and I don’t)
