On my next stay at Cosmo.....I will take a pad and a pen from there for one lucky VMBer. I will pay for the shipping.

The next time your in Vegas....you have to leave an unpleasant note at the front desk using that same stationary....

    That will show them!!!!

I stayed at two different Homewood Suites this week on the East Coast. No pen or paper in either. Typically I always find them wherever I stay. So this seems to be a new trend.

Yeah, but you're not dropping a few thousand in the casino.

More pencils... I’m at Atlantis right now, and their in-room writing instrument is also a pencil. With a NOTEBOOK. That’s a first for me.

My question is... how do you sharpen the pencil when it gets dull?

you can use the hole in a metal key
if you access to a scissors or nail file, those will work
a credit card can be used to push back some of the wood, then run the lead at an angle across the sole of your shoe or
some other rough surface you have access to.
you can even use a fingernail to push back some of the wood, then, run the lead as mentioned above

    adapt,overcome, improvise

Maybe it's a generational thing. I don't wear a watch anymore because my phone acts as my clock. I also put memos, schedules and appointments in my phone. I don't recall that I've ever had a need for the notepad and pen/pencil in my room. Similar to coin operates phone booths, technology is going to make many things obsolete. Do people still ask for wake up calls?

Yes, I got it about using your phone, but your phone doesn't help for leaving a note for Housekeeping.

I still use wake up calls, my room at luxor had no clock, i had to ask room service to get one to my room, first time i ever got a room without a clock.

Here’s my “notepad” from the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar in Nassau. Which I had to request from housekeeping, along with the box of tissues I had to request as well, because apparently blowing your nose is optional. Please don’t tell me they’re cutting back on that amenity too.

This is getting to be pathetic...

I'm sure hoping so, and that was my first instinct. Though this is the first time that's ever happened to me in any hotel, and it aligns perfectly with other hotel cost-cutting behaviours. So I trust you can understand why it looks the way it looks, to me :)

For the last twenty years or so at every hotel I've visited - I've flicked through the pad to a blank space and left a little drawing as a calling card. I always wonder if anyone ever sees them. Guess they won't soon.

I still have a Caesars pad I took a while back. Maybe I should bring it with me on my trip later this month. Maybe they would remove it from the room.

For my upcoming trip, I'll return one of the pages from CET's notepads when I write my thank you note to Housekeeping. I'll let them wonder how it got in the room.

    Gotta win this trip.

I think it's about time hotels got modern and got rid of some needless waste that although seems small in just your room, on aggregate probably ends up being tons in our landfills.

El Cortez is staying on top of the game - maybe they’ll bring me a golf scorecard tomorrow....
