Lots of reports that this simply isn't the case for everyone. Of my crew, 3 of 5 of us had at least one day with a missed cleaning over the weekend after memorial day, including missed cleanings at Cromwell and Caesars.

They did raise the wages. The people aren't there in Vegas. Everyone on earth is trying to hire in Vegas right now, plus you had Resorts World going live at the same time - housekeeping, waiters, etc. It's just a mess.

SHAKE SHACK is offering $500 hiring bonuses. The market is nuts.

And the union is more focused on benefits than cash-in-hand wages, which I can't say I disagree with. Believe it's the Culinary. I was hospitalized earlier this year, the on-paper bill was over $100k; due to having insurance, I paid about $2k. I'll take that over a couple extra bucks an hour any day.

I could write a whole dissertation on why unions being slowly marginalized is going to a bigger story in 10-15 years than people realize. The PR behind 'gig economy' jobs is almost all bankrolled by companies (like Amazon) through third party groups trying to break unions as are all the 'right to work' campaigns all over the country.

From Gold Coast to the airport the afternoon of July 4th Uber wanted $45+, Lyft $35+, a cab happened to be passing by we jumped into for $27 flat before tip. Clean car with a friendly Bulgarian driver.
I'd like to think Uber is passing the markup to drivers, but doubt it.

Taxi fare to/from the airport is regulated (capped) by the City, IIRC

If it is really taxing to the hotel SOMEONE should have thought, “let’s keep some backup”. They apparently didn’t. Ok here we areAGAIN here we are with management and the BIG bucks ……. and
I’ve said this before, the salary isn’t day to day, it’s crisis management to minimize the effects of deviant circumstances. Many properties failed in this to save a “few dollars” vs what it is costing now. It is a failure somewhere and I’d guess with the bean counters.

Wynn did the right thing and paid all their employees during the lockdown. The entire time. If I had worked for them I would continue. It would make me proud that they valued their staff.

I wasn't sure I understood the premise of this thread on the first page, but at this point we have wandered far away from the original "topic". I'm closing it to further posts.
