I have done Vegas 4 times in the last couple of years and will definitely be going again next year but I also fancy visiting New York. Not much of an airport person and wouldn't mind a shorter flight to The States.

Maybe will be doing 10-14 nights on the East Coast and wouldn't mind trying Atlantic City to get some gambling done for perhaps 4 or 5 days (is that too long). I don't want to be flying once I land in New York so how would you split New York/Atlantic City. Maybe even fit Philadelphia in too?

Also are the hotels in Atlantic City similar to Vegas i.e comps/drinks.

Any input appreciated.

Thank You

Hard to comment without knowing if this is a winter trip and do you have an established CET account that could possibly comp your AC rooms..
Drive from NYC to AC is about 3 hours and from AC to Philly about 2 but always plan on longer..
Marina district in AC is nicer imo than boardwalk props but they have jitneys that go back and forth.
Plenty of New Jersey folks on here to answer your questions about AC..Good Luck with the planning.

As Kevin said, it really depends on when you’re coming to NYC. If you’re coming within the next few weeks it might be pretty dead in AC. Not much entertainment during the week and this time of year not many choices on the weekend. Also, many restaurants are not open daily. I suggest a Thursday to Sunday trip. If you’re renting a car it takes about 2 ½ half from the city to AC , similarly to Philly. If you’re not renting you can go there via Greyhound from Port Authority Bus terminal on 8th Ave and 41st St. Other times like spring and summer it gets more crowded and more shows, etc.

AC to Philly is 1.5 hours tops unless you hit some accident. 4-5 days is a long time in AC. 2 days is all you need. 3 tops. Philly is cool but I only go there because it's closer and cheaper than NYC. NYC is where it's at.

AC casinos you'd want to visit are Borgata, Harrah's, or the Trop. They are similar to Vegas but very busy on the weekends and very quiet on weekdays.

My advice would be to forgo the trip to AC and just stay in NYC. If you're had enough of NYC, make plans ad hoc when you get here. Trains from NYC can take you lots of places, Philly, AC, Boston...

Cheers guys will probably be Aug/Sept so shouldn't be too bad.
Won't be driving so may take the Greyhound to Atlantic City. Will have a look at Boston too.

Excellent time to go ,hotels are similar as far as drinks, comps etc. I would throw Caesars into the mix also,Good location, rooms maintained well and also,if you're British,Gordon Ramseys Pub may be just your reminder of home.

We did AC to NY on the bus once. Was not a bad trip at all. A few days in AC is cool. Almost Vegas style casinos, but lower on the entertainment level. Borgata is among the best hotels there, but not on the beach - but who cares if you are in the casino all day anyways-lol?

Not much else to do in AC other than casinos.
