Got an email from my rep at MGM Resorts about the remodel at Luxor and the renaming of room types.
    ---------------------
Luxor is going under a remodel and will be replacing the following room types:
    • Tower Deluxe King will be replaced by Tower Premium King with a max occupancy of 3
    • Tower Deluxe Queen will be replaced by Tower Premium Queen with a max occupancy of 4
    ---------------------

Please also note the new occupancy max. I can't find it in my notes now, but I believe it used to be max occupancy of 4 for both types of rooms.

Any idea if they're updating them to the Cleo scheme (or some other renovation) or just changing the names?

Interesting, glad they're getting around to it, they've been needing to join the 21st century for years now. Would love to see room pics when someone stays in them, always have had a soft spot for the Lux and wouldn't mind staying there again if they do a solid job and keep the prices down.

Found the answer to my own question, as photos of the new rooms have recently been posted to the Luxor website. They look great!

Looks great, now if only the Towers weren't such a hike to the casino.

We've always wanted to stay a Luxor as it's iconic. I'm really liking the rooms, now we might have to try it!

These are NICE! I quite like the Luxor, anyway, even with the old rooms. This is even better!

When are they gonna get around to updating NYNY's rooms? They need it more than the Luxor Tower rooms did...

Much nicer than I thought they would turn out. I will have to give one a try next year.

Looks nice! Only gripe would be the gold fixtures in the bathroom.

Based on the pictures so far, absolutely. These look a lot better than the new ParkMGM rooms.

Wow, and I mean wow. They look great in the pics. It's always tough to tell quality from a picture but this looks like a huge upgrade to the old style rooms. Would absolutely book a stay in one of these. The resort itself is still a bit depressing but I love the south strip and this immediately puts Luxor back on the map for me if the rates stay low. I may have to put some actual play on my Mlife card this next trip to see if I can get comped in one of these.

I might be in the minority, but I think I will miss the old decor in the tower rooms. Of course, I haven't been back since they downgraded my favorite video poker machines, so maybe it doesn't really matter.

Yeah WWGB I think you'll be alone on that one. I love the Luxor, all the way back to the days of the river ride from check in to the elevators, but I'll take that new room over the old Tower quicker than you can double down on 11.

I still play at Luxor (slots and BJ) and I agree with you. I liked the tacky theme. This stuff is part of what drew me to Vegas in the first place. The pyramid room updates still have a nod to the theme with the Cleo eye pictures. Between MGM National Harbor, ParkMGM and these new rooms I'm just seeing the same soulless corporate design I get every time I'm on business and stay at Hilton.

I'm sure we're the minority but I liked what Vegas was doing.
