I mentioned in another thread that harrahs was planning to add slots outside, they finally got approval and started a few weeks back of adding them.

many people were upset that the casino went 100% non-smoking and they would have to leave their machine and go outside to smoke.

now they have fenced off the valet smoking section and added A/C, heat and a bunch of machines, the way it looks now is they will block a section off so you can walk in and out and not worry about being carded

heres a pic from last night as to where they are now, i was drunk and dont remember taking it, lol

will also be interesting as to how they will hold up to our very wet climate here and several are in place that they will get rained on

I'll be interested to check it out in a few weeks. Not a big smoker but I enjoy a cigar every now and then. Hopefully they deliver drinks out there.

Looks like a training photo for 'spot the dangerous situation'.

lol its still under construction

talked with the GM last night, you will be able to order drinks right off the machine like the inside machines...there are 60 slots from penny up to $100...on weekends they will have a satellite bar setup so you can get your drink right away

they are throwing a by invitation party to celebrate the opening and although I dont smoke, the computer system says I do so I got invited.

it opens November 30th

its all fenced off outside and they did just reveal the partition inside so you will be able to freely walk in and out and not have to be carded if you normally get carded

the two doors behind that are the old valet cashier booth and "kitchen" for the palm room

we discussed a few things last night and some big changes are coming to the hotel, diamond lounge and casino

I sure hope they make the diamond lounge larger or a separate 7 star lounge.
It is really hard to get a seat in there.

they have been discussing for over 10 years of adding a 7star lounge in the upstairs area of masquerade, so far its not going to happen any time soon, if ever and they dont have space to expand the palm room, they have the asian room on the other side which would be a nice if they could add that to palm room but they will not take that revenue away for a bigger room

as far as palm room goes, they are going to close for a week possibly starting december 1st, he said they dont have an exact date yet but thats what they are shooting for and he wants everything done in one week...it will get a much needed cleaning, new glassware and bar products such as a new refrigerator (i was there when the door literally fell off)and since they fired the best bartender they ever had there "Jimi" and now have people bartending who never went to school for it, they are going to get them trained. but some renovations are coming to the room which again is under new management

he thanked me for actually supplying some of the workers with the proper bar tools but said that I shouldnt have had to do that and he has neglected the room for 14 months as he was tied up getting the other things done or started, but he said no excuses, we all deserve better and hes focused on getting palm done now

I have not been there in almost a year, but I'm so sorry to hear that they fired Jimi. He was a maestro of bartenders.

yea im real good friends with jimi outside of harrahs, it happened back in july, the guy who fired him retired 2 days after and it was over a gift and something they were going to throw away...jimi is now working across from mannings at fulton bowling alley...after his 90 period was up where he wasnt allowed to step foot in harrahs, he now pops in every now and then to tell people hi

after my host tells me that it wont be open till november 30th, they opened it Tuesday the 22nd, what a great host lol...anyway, ill be there in a lil while, if I remember I may take a few inside pics or something

I accomplished drunk last night, lol...so I didnt get any pics, did walk through, pretty nice, few people were playing...past the slots is some sit and smoke area...talked with the GM this morning after hearing all praise but one complaint and that is the machines that face the river have a terrible glare at certain times, he praised the feedback and said he is working on it but has to come up with something "that is acceptable to the state, city, regulators, surveillance, ect" this is why he opened it without a grand opening knowing there would be a few things to work out...

also he said in the next 6 months they will be adding 2 more courtyard and have over 90 slot machines outside

maybe pics tonight, lol

take this for what its worth...i was informing a few employees in the palm room that im friends with that they would be closing the room around december 1st for one week and move everyone to ultra lounge inside of masquerade 9most employees didnt know about it)

she asked me what they are doing and I told her word for word what the guy who runs the place said about cleaning, some renovations, getting proper glassware and tools along with proper training

she said, "I dont know why they want to do anything right now, they already told us that they are moving the lounge upstairs"

add a little bit more to this

daryll from 7* insider emailed me last night, he'll be in town in a few days, but he asked if I heard anything, we shared our info and the way things are looking right now

Palm Room will be turned into the new 7* lounge and the diamond lounge will be moving to the 2nd floor inside of masquerade, not sure how that room will be set up but it better be well insulated against sound or they will have a bunch of angry older people

when all this will take place is still unknown but after more than 10 years of just talk, they finally seem to be getting things started

Moving Diamond upstairs? Away from the high limit area? Oh well.

glad I visited before they moved the palm room, was definitely a nice little nook.
