So it looks like I have to help organize a bachelor party in New Orleans in December. I went to New Orleans with my gf last month for the first time in many years. We mostly stuck to Harrahs and other tourist stuff. So I really don't know nearly enough about New Orleans to help plan a bachelor party. I think the guys are on board with staying at or near the casino, but no plans yet beyond that. If anyone has specific suggestions about clubs or bars in the French Quarter, or anything else we should do that would be fun for a bachelor party, please share. Thanks

God damn, some of the others on here can probably do better than me.

Have you booked a hotel?

Harrah's is right next to the French Quarter... it is easy to hit up if you want to do some gambling. The casino is large with a good poker room and is completely non-smoking.

Go eat at Jacque Imo's, in uptown(?). The others are going to have to give you better recommendations. Which weekend are you going?

No room yet, but the current plan is to stay at Harahhs or somewhere nearby. I'm familiar with the options at the casino. Going first weekend of December

Couple Bars on Bourbon that might work for a bachelor party are Razoo and Famous Door.I think Cat's Meow has some Karaoke but it is also fun.
Loud music and crowds at all.
Too many great iconic restaurants to list but Commander's Palace in the Garden District was always one of my favorites.

was there for two bachelor parties. we stuck in around bourbon street for the evenings.. day time was the market for some nice food and pubs. also willie's chicken shack at the end of night is a great call :) Have fun.

Drago's for their charbroiled oysters! Maybe an organized pub crawl or one of those brew bikes might be fun if they have them there.

Yeah, watch the movie "Very Bad Things." (You can probably rent or find it on YouTube.) It's about a bachelor party that went terribly wrong. And while the party takes place in Vegas, I'm sure seeing what not to do will apply just as much in New Orleans. Have fun!

Is this a "strip clubs drunken partying & vomiting" sort of bachelor party, or, "great food & good liquor" bachelor party? I can give recommendations for the latter but not the former ;-)

Frenchman St. is walkable from the French Market area and has some great live music clubs. It's a different vibe than Bourbon, with more locals.

Daisy Dukes on Chartres just off Canal St is close to Harrahs, open 24 hours and has a great late night b'fast special (2 eggs, meat, hash brown and toast for $4.50) as well as Bloody Marys with free refills. Love that place.

Great food - Cochon (and the more casual Cochon Butcher)
Happy hour oysters at Luc.
Breakfast at Stanley.
Really eclectic but delicious - Green Goddess (great if you want to give vegans/vegetarians something yummy after making them eat at Cochon ;-)
My favorite place for po boys and a beer- very close to Harrahs - is Ernst Cafe. We go to New Orleans every couple years for a trade show, stay in the Warehouse District and this is an easy walk for us and a favorite - I have to go there at least once each trip. Our last trip, we also had a couple meals at the Pie - right down the road from our hotel. Good pizza, nice beer selections.
