I agree another option from Canada to Vegas would be great...major issue is Air Canada (who I detest) and WestJet (who I adore) may try to blow them out of the water before they can become established. I just purchased a new little bag from Costco that fits under the seat in front of you, so I am ready to go...

Westjet briefly tried this @ 4-5 years ago. They had a big splash but it fizzled quickly within a few months

I knew westjet did flights from Kitchener to vegas but every time I looked them up they would be like $200 more then just flying out of Toronto. (For $200 I can drive the 45 min)

Yes they were doing ok as a charter airline but 9/11 sunk them. Jetzgo tried what New Leaf is doing but only lasted 4 years. Hopefully New Leaf is much stronger, WestJet and Air Canada's flight prices are beyond ridiculous so this is great timing.

It won't be easy and they know that but here's hoping it does work out. Canadians deserve a low cost airline, we pay far too much to WJ and AC.

I just read that Hamilton to Vegas is part of the future plans...that would be amazing.

I'm hoping this works out too. The cheap flights to Halifax are great for me to visit family and a cheap Vegas option would be awesome!

Good luck to them. Once you factor in taxes and service charges (Air Canada is still charging a $50 fuel surcharge, really?), it never seems to be that cheap.
I'd welcome flying out of Hamilton (live in Toronto) if the offered service to somewhere I actually want to go. Vegas would be great.
I'm going to Las Vegas in 12 days (not that I'm counting) and am flying out of Buffalo.
I had enough Aeroplan points left for a one way trip. I couldn't find anything out of Toronto that worked for my schedule.
While I don't have a direct flight to Vegas, the taxes and fees were only $7.40. If I flew out of Toronto you know they would have been at least $75 for my free ticket.
I got a return direct flight back to Buffalo on Southwest for $211. I also booked a couple of months ago before the dollar totally tanked.
My point is that if I'm prepared to drive to Buffalo, Hamilton is way better if the deals are there.

The taxes on flights in Canada are just ridiculous. New Leaf says they will be saving by only flying in and out of the smaller 2 tier airports. I'm surprised that Vegas has been mentioned though, I would not think that is a 2 tier airport.

I think the airport tax is reasonable in Vegas. The flights I book with Westjet YYC-LAS the return leg is always 50 dollars cheaper.

Not a good start, I was really hoping they would get off to a smooth start but this is a very bad start. I won't be surprised now if they never make it off the ground. I'm so sick and tired of the flights costing a small fortune in Canada.

I think just putting fights on hold is a big thing. No flights = no business. They're also issuing refunds so there's that too. That's actually worse since they're incurring processing fees and such for doing that now to.

A refund doesn't help if you'd booked your flight and have now missed the sales the other carriers had. I know someone that lost out because of this. Bad PR.

I checked out one route. Only two days a week and the hours were terrible.

Still, I hope they get their operation going to give the big guys some competition.
