Not to mention some NBA veterans might be at the apex or downside portion of their careers. Championships are important, even if it’s on a pandemic shortened season.

This statement is pretty much what one of the guests said on Highly Questionable earlier today. I think it will be interesting to see who really stayed in shape during the shutdown. There are going to be some really well known players coming back fat (there always is after a lockout). The ones who stayed in top shape are the players who obviously really thirst for a title. In such a short window after three months off, most anything can happen (I still remember the Knicks going to the finals as an 8 seed in 99)

As a Laker fan I wonder how many more miles LeBron has left on his body. I remember the final 3 years of Kobe’s career. Kobe was excellent until he wasn’t.

    Horrible idea.

The amount of time that has passed will have been the equivalent of a regular offseason.

I'm a Bucks fan and we're never in contention for shit and I still think this idea is laughable.

A bunch of pick up games in a gym after hours.

    Oh well.

Good discussion about the restart plan on The Jump today. I'm sure they will rerun it multiple times tonight on ESPNews

For me the big “oh sh*t” moment for coronavirus was when they suspended the Jazz game (with fans in attendance) due to Gobert contracting COVID. So it will be nice to see the NBA lead us back into some level of normalcy (live sports). I can only watch so many pop up replays of the 1998 finals (or whatever crap they’re showing) before I need to shut off my TV.

Adam Silver really just made up a rule to help Zion get in the playoffs and it's allowed teams like the Washington Wizards who are 24-40 to get into the playoff picture

Lot of news today about players not wanting to live in the bubble. Outside of the top three or four teams, I expect a lot of teams just to tank because they don't care, don't think they can win, and want to get out ASAP

I think this is a great opportunity for some dark horse to steal a Championship - long layoff, no fans, no homecourt advantage, living in a bubble city, ... Liking the Rockets and Sixers to maybe get hot and run the table.

I agree with the logic. But I still think the Lakers (a vet team) will come back in shape. Not as confident about the Sixers. Rockets is interesting. The long break may have really helped them. Their rotation was run into the ground before the break, so the rest may help them significantly (just not sure their style and strategy is enough to win it all). I think rest also helps the Bucks if for no other reason than it gave Giannas a chance to recover form the injury he sustained shortly before the break

Clippers, In my opinion are the most complete team of all plus their Coach is very good , and they can get a player like De Marcus Cousins or Jamall Crawford or any other free agents out there , I
could be wrong , but I like their mix , plus Leonard will be ready to go in every game. my opinion.

Should be interesting. I’m wondering if notable players & coaches will opt out (e.g., Carmelo & D’Antoni).

But what intrigues me most is whether the NBA & NFL will have concurrent seasons going on before the MLB finally gets it together. This billionaires vs millionaires MLB pissing match is a turn off. I watched it mostly because it was the only summer sport on TV.
