I took a bottle of 2000 Petrus from Switch tonight. 10k price tag...with dinner was 12k.

Basically, the Wynn gave my wife two linen sets with nice villa sheets...boy, now people will think i stole their sheets....:)

The Cosmo actually came through, after some complaint...they said I could use the points for retail, so about 5k worth. I don't even have a ton of theo there either, about 54k so far....good for them...

Also I was wrong about the airfare at Wynn....
    it is 33k for 1m
    50k for 2m
60k for 3m....I guess I must have misremembered it...but boy that's not any incentive to go from 1m to 2m...so wtf was my host doing encouraging me to do so....?!? Anyways, just goes to prove that the hosts are not your friends. Pretty po'd at them for making me go to all those restaurants and carting back the wine myself. I think they might join the MGM list....pretty soon I will run out of casinos to enjoy....which might be a good thing for me....maybe it is my subconscious banning myself from all the major casinos?

Good news is today I hit back 17k at the Cosmo...so almost even there. Down 3k and the airfare should cover....can't really get back up on the theo though...that's a bit annoying but a win is a win, no matter how small....

Well thanks to AT&T and their super shit service in Laughlin I didn't check the tread the last 2 days. Had I been able to I would have known you were in town for another couple of days. I could have driven the extra hour to LV instead of Laughlin and helped you spend some of your comps at Wynn. My wife **loves loves loves*** every restaurant at the Wynn but I'm too cheap to spends a few hundred a person on dinner.

I was thinking about you last night while down at the Aquarius. Shooter after shooter was making 2+ points. One girl must have made 6 or 7 points and was throwing 6's like it was her day job. I had my 6 pressed up to $300 (started at $24). Even I had a few good rolls making 3 points and hitting 2 parlayed hard 4 and 6.

Glad to hear you won most of your money back. Sometimes going full tilt works out! If you're still hanging out at the Cosmo try the secret pizza place...it's some of the best pizza in LV.

In your title you mentioned Caesars. Did I miss that or are you totally off of the CET properties? I thought Caesars Palace would love to have your level action.Sorry if this was already mentioned.
Good Luck and as always we are all rooting for you!!

Wow great trip report! Its to funny u mentioned that people come out of nowhere when u got comps to spend. Stay away from these people especially when u don't even get a proper thank you. Mooches are everywhere when u have money and they are no fun to hang out with, the will just irritate u and get u in a bad mood. Do they even know that u get tips included in your comp? The proper etiquette would be to at least offer to pay for the tip when u guys are eating out.

Even if you offered to pick up everything in advance u don't have to be rich to give a proper thank you. People with nice manners would at least send up a small gift basket or a wine bottle to your room with a thank you card or a similar gesture just to let you know they appreciate that you took care of them.

Ah, what a superb TR. Thank you Nate and Nacho!

I started reading this days ago and just caught up. It's like a novel and I love it!

The trip alone is epic AND Nacho is a dice setter!?!! I love it. The practice rig Nacho uses is very cool. I love the magnet idea--seems more practical. I use one with wooden pegs.

I look fwd to the remainder of the report and hope you shoot those dice like you own them --and subsequently own the casino!

You know, Bommen, you make a very good point. I've noticed that over the years, you can really tell a person's upbringing by how polite they are. Sometimes I've even driven away nice people because they don't want to seem to be taking advantage of my hospitality too much, and I've regretted that.

It seems that a lot of people you barely know will take advantage of your hospitality with nary a thank you afterwards. You are right, a gift basket or a thank you note does go a long way.

    Final report

So today is the last day of gambling, and I leave tomorrow on the MGM jet back to the bay area.

Since I've hit the numbers at the Wynn, decide to go to Cosmo and gamble...actually I only decided to gamble 15 minutes, but turns into a four hour session !?!?!

The reason only 15m is because I had 11:45 time, so needs 15 more minutes to qualify. I was down about 3k, so no big deal, with 50k or so in theo, so qualify for 3 tickets, usually 10.5k at other casinos, but Cosmo is different so I will get into it later.

Has anybody noticed that whenever the wife or another woman (host) is around, you lose? I've noticed it...and it cost me today since the wife was hanging around to use her 5k shopping. I finally get rid of her and her shopping goods (only so much you can buy in Cosmo retail, but I picked up a nice pair of sun glasses).

By that time I was pretty deep in the hole, about 275k. I was betting like there was no tomorrow since ..... there isn't....I'm leaving vegas....

I had 3 tables locked up, BJ, roulette, and baccarat right next to each other. So when the bac is shuffling, I would jump to BJ or roulette to gamble continuously.....oh how the casinos love customers like me....little chitchat, full on gambling!

So for roulette I buy in for 100k, was betting yellow chips in a diamond pattern, until the dealer taught me new ways to bet in roulette. You can do a "complete" bet, just put a chip on a number and say complete, and they will put a marker on it, and it just means that basically the chip is divided by 20 and surrounds the number, including the number itself...anyways, sort of fun at first but not really.

I hit a few numbers in between dead zones, one hit of 20 got me 68 chips, another of 17 the same....but eventually got worn down to 0.

Roulette is fun, gives the most theo, but boy when it is cold it is cold. For some reason the 10 kept hitting, I had 1/2 of it a few times but didn't consistently bet it....

BJ isn't really my game, so I was betting relatively small. 2 hands of 1k each, when I win I will press by 1k. I was actually up in BJ because we had some long streaks of 5-6 hands that would hit. So overall made 20k or so. Didn't have the balls of Jilly or Shifter on BJ.

So the Baccarat story must have a sort of happy ending right? Of course! After being down so much and hating myself, I hit this wonderful shoe where I hit 9 2nd banks in a roll. Go from 12k all the way to 40k before the shoe ended. Didn't lose a hand on 2nd bank...it was epic. I loved it so much I didn't really mind losing a little this session.

So I settle up at the Cosmo, down about 44k, so less than 50k so no loss discount. The airfare was very generous, they actually use a % here, so since I had 80k theo, and hit the 75k theo 300k line level, they gave me 5% of 300k or 15k for airfare. Most other casinos would be 4x3.5k or 14k....so an extra 1k doesn't hurt. The front money bonus was 3%x300k or 9k...so total was 24k in incentives (not to mention I took 20k in promos in the beginning)....so I basically only lost 20k for this trip at Cosmo, gained 5k in merchandise, and had a good time. Totally wasted my theo though since I didn't eat nice meals, didn't really have a room (except to charge stuff), so they must like me as a customer as well :)

Thanks for the wonderful support on this board, this board has been very helpful to my mental state :)

Hope everybody else has better luck than me this trip, but I got to say it was fun and exciting.

i agree, but i'm surprised at how many people don't do this. i think it's because they don't have any idea that tips aren't generally comped. obviously Nate is getting them picked up because of his enormous trip this time, but most of the time they're not. but people who are not familiar with comps don't know that. so when they know you're getting dinner comped, they figure the tip is included in the comp.

at least that's what i figure because in all my trips with people that i've covered, nobody has ever offered to pick up a tip on any meal ever. but they have offered to pick up tips for limo drivers and bellman, etc, so i think it's just that they don't know. it's not that it's such a big deal that i pay all the tips when at the end of a trip it might be $500-1000 at the most for all the tips, but it would be a nice gesture. maybe some day someone will do that and that person would instantly be my favorite Vegas traveller, lol.

well i'm bummed you didn't have an epic comeback after i left, but glad it was a fairly decent trip in terms of loss to bankroll. considering how deep you were into the hole at various points, the final number is quite an accomplishment and very acceptable.

good luck on staying away for a year! lol. i sometimes say stuff like that after a few bad trips or too many trips back to back, but i'm always back in a few months at the most. we just can't stay away no matter what! in fact right now because my last trip was so bad, i'm saying that i'm not going to gamble much at my birthday party trip in Sept and then i won't be coming back until the spring. we'll see how that goes, lol.

Thanks for all the updates and pics throughout your trip, nate! It was awesome to get a little first-hand insight to how the big players do Vegas.

I always say that, but because of my poor treatment by the MGM and the Wynn, basically my home bases in vegas, I'm going to force myself to stay away for a year, maybe they will wonder why? Or maybe they don't care :)

Anyways, I've said so many times, so we shall see. The Cosmo was a fun experience, I found out my host has only been there two weeks, that's why the rough edges, but overall I can see myself going back (although probably alone not really a family place).

I will also try Caesar's next time too....going to just relax, have a nice meal at Lakeside, get another bottle, and hit a final round of golf in the morning with some new clubs I picked up at Las Vegas Golf & Tennis....I actually really like that store because of the great selection....

I know all the women on here are going to hate me for this, but YES!!! Although there have been rare occasions when I've won with the wife around, I'd say 9 times out of 10 if she is playing with me it's usually one of those sessions were I'm not just not winning, but getting killed - and if I'm on a hot streak, if she shows up it usually turns cold. Don't know why that is...

Overall, I'd have to say your trip turned out pretty good considering the amount of time you were in town - of course winning would've been better, but it could've been much, much worse given the length of your stay.

I can understand given some of the treatment you got this trip why you'd not want to come back for at least a year - but being a betting man, I'm going to wager that we'll be seeing another Vegas trip report from you in less than a year's time :wink2:

you know i've actually had mixed results with this. the one time my wife actually came gambling with me, we played craps and it was colder than ice. i'll never do that again.

but as far as her just being around, it's been mixed. she sat in on one session one time and it actually was a great shoe and we did pretty well. and i often hit the tables while she's getting ready for dinner and when she comes down to pick me up, i sometimes play a last hand or 2 after she gets there if the shoe has been going well. i've had many times where i won a big bet, at least as many times as i've lost that last bet. whenever i win that last bet i always tell her she's my good luck charm. i don't mention anything when i lose, lol.

Well, I always give her one more chance, because she automatically asks now whether she should go, and I say lets see what happens with this hand or spin, never fails....

    Reminds me of this story:
A woman's husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several months, yet she had stayed by his bedside every single day. One day, when he came to, he motioned for her to come nearer.

As she sat by him, he whispered, eyes full of tears, "You know what? You have been with me all through the bad times...When I got fired, you were there to support me. When my business failed, you were there. When I got shot, you were by my side. When we lost the house, you stayed right here. When my health started failing, you were still by my side... You know what?"

"What dear?" She gently asked, smiling as her heart began to fill with warmth.

    He replies,

    "I think you're bad luck.

Thanks for such a wonderful trip report Natedogg. I hope you have safe travels. Even though you had a long trip this time, do you think you can go a whole year without gambling action? I know, it sounds like I am a degenerate gambler but I think we all have that in us a bit, so just wondering. I do not think I have had more than 7 months without a casino trip somewhere, since beginning to go casinos.

So dinner was really $2,000 without the wine (and, of course, comped). Do you leave the waiter $400 cash for a tip? I've always seen that you can't use comps to tip.
