    For Me:

Worst Cheap Meal: The old Westward HO Mega HO DOG. Could only eat maybe half of it before
tossing the rest! Runner Up: The Cal Ox Tail Soup. Just tasted too salty and
bitter for me. But after I keep hearing how everyone loves it, since several
years have gone by since my tasting of it, I am going to give it a second chance!

Worst Buffet: The Stratosphere . It was cheap, and it was a long time ago, but I remember
that despite the low cost, it was pretty freaking bad!

Worst Upscale Meal: Honestly, I don't dine upscale very often. I can't recall having a bad
upscale dining experience out of the few I have had.

I agree with the Stratosphere. On our first trip we ended up finding a coupon for a variety show and lunch buffet at the Stratosphere and both we pretty poor.

As fas as "upscale" (although I'd consider it more mid-range), the Top Sirloin Bison was pretty lack-lustre.

Worst cheap meal has to be the Circus Circus Buffet. Last time I ate there was 15 years ago. That put the nail in the coffin.

Worst cheap meal - I don't know if this really fits category but MGM buffet (6 or 7 years ago)
It was fairly cheap compare to other hotels but MGM might god!!! Golden Corral would have much been better.

Worst upscale food - can't really complaint most were good if not excellent. Would MGM buffet fit here better? Not sure.

Worst Buffet: Imperial Palace. Yes, worse than Circus Circus. Never knew a breakfast buffet could be so bad!

I've never had a bad upscale meal. As far as buffets go, Sahara was the worst. Barely edible. Second would be Fremont's buffet. And for all the people that rave about the Main Street station buffet, I ate there once, and was ok but not great. My favorite for the price is Mirage's buffet followed by Red Rock. My all time favorite is the old Showboat in Atlantic City. Was very sad when that casino closed.

Worst cheap: Breakfast at Pampas Grille. It was cold and the service sucked.

Worst Midrange: Blondies - Food was relatively expensive and flavorless

Worst Buffet: Imperial Palace by far. It was like a bad high school cafeteria

Never had a bad meal on the upscale side but I don't do a lot of upscale dining either.

Worst Cheap Meal: Once ate a $10 steak at the old Monte Carlo cafe. It was disgusting. I swore to the waitress it was horsemeat. Only ate a few bites and complained. The waitress said I shouldn't expect much out of top sirloin. I demanded my money back and sent it away.
Worst Buffet: Don't eat many, so nothing comes to mind. I've eaten the Imperial Palace breakfast, but its hard to mess up bacon and hashbrowns, which is pretty much all that I ate. I can pretty much always find basic comfort food that works.
Worst Upscale: Gordon Ramsey Steak. It was meh. It was $240. It was 75% over priced. If I had the option for that same meal again for $50, I'd say no thanks.

Worst Cheap Meal: Planet Hollywood restaurant in Forum Shops.
We had a coupon, but that couldn't make up for the undercooked burgers, a 45-minute wait for the food, and the server who never came back except to give us the bill.
It also took the server about 20 minutes to get back with our credit card.

Worst Buffet: Luxor. A lot of the hot items were cold or not replenished.
Even tried it a second time on another trip, but had the same results.
Plus, I was mildly disappointed that they didn't have tater Tuts!

Worst Upscale: N/A. I have not had the opportunity to dine at that level yet! :)

Worst cheap meal - Westward Ho hotdog. About 2 lbs of bad hotdog on a bun. Think of sitting down to eating 2 lbs of bad bologna and you get the drift.
Worst cheap buffet - Terrible's (now Silver Sevens) breakfast buffet. Bad powdered eggs were the only choice in eggs. I had a mini-bagel and left. Thankfully, it was free.
Worst upscale meal - never in Las Vegas, but in Resorts in Atlantic City I ordered the 2 lb lobster and it came 1/2 cooked. The tips of the claws were still bluish-brown from not being in the steamer all the way and the meat was raw inside. Yuk! We also only saw the waitress twice...once to order and once to give us the check. Then she made a comment about my 10% tip. I'm still surprised I didn't stiff her.

Sahara Buffet was THEE WORST !!!
I can still recall - the grossest roadkill I ever saw was the pork chops - in their buffet pan.....gasoline covered smashed meat.
The buffet was SO BAD - they damn near couldn't get a breakfast buffet right !
How do you mess up eggs ?.........the bacon looked 14 days old + tooth crackin' solid !.......bread hard....some kinda gravey waiting
to plug your heart valves !
    *
( BTW = The STRAT buffet has improved a great deal.).........a long time ago - it was bad.
    *
    Can't remember a bad upscale ?

Oh ....... I almost forgot this story.
Went next door to The Strat for the AZTEC CASINO --- steak + egg special -- 4 am ?
I was served a RAW STEAK ( very thin .......but absolutelly RAW )
I wasn't expecting much at all............but not a completely uncooked piece of meat.
I said to the waiter " Hey ?......this is absolutely RAW ! "
    The guy didn't miss a beat -
He replies -- "Oh ! !!!......you wanted it cooked ? "
I LAUGHED MY ASS OFF !

I'm really racking my brain trying to think of a WORST

Cheap Meal - Binion's Cafe Cheeseburger & Chili lunch special and Magnolia's - just cold food and slowwww service.
I don't think either of those places are truly BAD....just a bad day.

Worst Buffet - Aria - Many things were out so long they were shriveled and dark. food temperature was COLD or lukewarm on seafood that should have been hot!
The thing that makes it the WORST was because the Chinese Chicken Feet and all of the dumplings/dim sum had been sitting out so long and had gotten so cold that when you tried to pick one of them up, you'd get a CLUMP and the skin would come off leaving the innards stuck to the bottom of the steam tray. I mean seriously at some point at least ONE employee should have seen the mess of dumpling skins with no filling stuck to the tongs or the fact that all the chicken feet were clumped together with half the skin ripped off. Freaking NASTY!

Worst upscale - Never had a bad upscale meal in Vegas. Service sometimes sucks...but the food has not disappointed me.

Worst Mid-tier = I will say that Vdara Cafe - While the food presentation was lovely, it was bland and tasteless. (Eggs Benedict and Chicken/Waffles with a side of bacon - orange juice and 2 coffees - the bill was over $80.)

    Palace Station Buffet

Double Barrel at Monte Carlo, food was average but service was about the worst I have ever had.

I've had the Strat buffet decades ago....far from the best but beats the hell outta, yes, the infamous IP buffet. Like the previous poster said, how the hell do you screw up breakfast? Tasteless eggs and I'll bet the orange "juice" wasn't oj. Maybe it was Tang
