Don't see why someone would spend thousands in chips to get rewards that they could get for far less than thousands of dollars, lol. Just seems silly to me. To each their own, I suppose.

Ok, I misread this as I thought a host would contact you if you had enough points and not if you buy enough.
She has spent $0 so I guess we can exclude this topic for now.

Yes - this is exactly my feelings as well. To report back on my earlier post that my Mom was contacted - we did end up using her host to spend all of her 3+ million LPS on our trip a few weeks ago. The host arranged for show tickets to shows not currently available via MyVegas and also for a food and beverage credit at our hotel. Even when you add it all up it pales in comparison to how much my Mom has likely spent on the game. Just not something I would do but glad I got to take advantage of her points without it costing me any money LOL.

    Are these LP's or chips?

    Probably LP's

Your chip total means nothing LP's mean something, but not much. Buying coins is what counts.

I've received gift cards that I used for myVEGAS over the years. Probably $300 or so over the years. I've unlocked 4 rewards, two comp night at Bellagio/Aria and Vdara. I also have one comp night at Aria for 200k which is more than the two nights (198k). The one night for 200k has completely different terms and conditions. I can use for consecutive reservations. Verified this through myVEGAS.

Don't see why someone would say "To each their own", after ridiculing other people's choices first. But maybe I don't understand the expression correctly. And otherwise, to each their own, I suppose.

About spending money on myVegas: Why would anyone gamble any money anywhere, when the odds are not in your favor? Why would anybody go back time after time to a casino or to Vegas to gamble, knowing that in the long run they can only end up as a loser? If you like the game, why not spend money on it?

I think the only "smart" way to gamble is to quit as soon as you're ahead and never come back, as that's the only time you will ever really have beaten the odds. But I ain't doing it. I like the game. I enjoy the thrill. I fantasise about the "what if...".

Ain't we all rediculous - for whatever reasons - in some other people's eyes?

Do you mean that you can use the 200k LPs reward to book consecutive 1 night stays, or that you can tag it onto the 2 night Aria 198k LPs?

I bought chips years ago when the rewards were really good, but then couldn't make it out to Vegas to enjoy them, and now the quality has obviously decreased markedly.

No point crying over spilt milk anyway, and I'll still work my way through them eventually, I'm sure.

    Thanks in advance :)

What I understood from different threads here on the board is that the host can offer customized (customised?) deals. For example an x-amount of consecutive nights (at a specific MGM resort) and/or an x-amount of resort credits (to spend at any MGM property) and/or an x-amount of freeplay and/or free tickets to a show (that runs at an MGM property), against an x-amount of loyalty points.

Kind of the same way "real" hosts and comps work. Probably also with the same math behind it (coin-in versus comps). The host can work with you, for you to get the best value out of your loyalty points, instead of being held to the normal myVegas reward availability and conditions. Also help you to combine your own (comped) bookings with myVegas comped rooms.

Everything that you posted is true, but remember that

1)You need to have a host. You can't come in from out the blue and ask for a host and set up a "package".
2)There is a steep premium for a package setup. That is because "packages" are purchased from mLife from myVegas at a different schedule than the normal rewards.

Typically, we are talking about the 10's of millions of LPs. My host has done these for some of her other customers.

Because there are some rewards that are worth thousands of dollars that cost potentially tens (or hundreds) of thousands of dollars

As an example, there is a reward coming up for 500,000 HGS points. The cost is going to be (as my host told me) 3M LPs and requires a 2 night stay.

500,000 HGS points can only be earned with approximately $150,000 in action (with no bonuses, like 2x or 3x days). mLife HGS points can only be earned with slot play.

500,000 HGS points is the equivalent of (corrected) $1666 of FP or gift cards.

Now, that doesn't necessarily make it worth it for you . . . but someone (like me) who doesn't play much at mLife anymore but still likes to get gift cards finds it attractive.

I have comp nights in January 10-13. I'm going in a day early so I will use the Aria free night on the 9th. Most rewards say no consecutive reservations. But this one will let me stay consecutively with my comp nights.

Yes you have to buy chips. I don't really know how much I have spent over the years but I have been able to see many of the Cirque shows, Many meals, comped rooms and food and beverage credits. in addition to having six rewards for the last few years, from time to time myVEGAS host sends some free chips via email. For me, this process works, I won't elaborate why, or how but suffice to say I am a happy camper.

My NYE trip includes Free play at Mirage and NYNY. I also have asked myVegas host to get me a $950.00 Food & beverage credit at NYNY. This was all from playing myVEGAS.

MLife comps were three nights at Mirage and four nights at NYNY. We also got FP and F&B credit as well.our MLife comps are modest as we have not been back to LV in 18 months. So we intend on working on getting our Gold status back.

Sandwiched between is a three night comped stay at Cosmo.

There is a great business book -along the lines with what you said- called "Predictably Irrational". Very nice read and tells how we all are so irrational in our economical decisions.

Screenshot_20171105-173311.jpg On the orig MV slot app and the Konami app it shows one can get a host after they reach a certain level. Has anyone reached that level without chip purchases?

Doubtful. I've been playing all 4 mobile games (and not purchasing chips) for a long time and have never even gotten past MVP 3. I might get lucky and move up to level 4 now that they added MyKonami and the Facebook version to the MVP program, but I'm not holding my breath.
