    My Trip Report

I've been told I need to write a trip report from last weekend before I leave on my trip tomorrow...so here goes. The events following may or may not have been embellished to make for a better trip report.

Thusday morning: Was all packed. Ready to leave San Diego and pick up Doc_Al at the Vegas airport at 12:30 ish. I made sure to pack every camera I owned since I didn't want to miss out on any opportunities like last year. My camera bag was bulging with my Nikon F5, Nikon D100, Camedia point and shoot digital, plus my video camera. I was loaded...but I was in such a hurry to leave that I left the whole bag inside my door when I left. DOH!

The drive out was made in 4.5 hours. No traffic, and everyone was going 80. Nice! Got a call from Al saying he was delayed in Denver. Sweet! Now I can slow down. Still got into town early and decided to check out the new Hooters Casino. Got fleeced for $100 almost before my beer arrived. Took a look around and decided that I don't think I'll spend much time there again. Small Poker room, even smaller sports book.

Got a call from Becky to join the crew for 25 cent martinis. Got there in time to have one before bailing to pick up Al at the airport.

Drove to the Plaza and checked in. Nice room. Definatly nothing to complain about, except having to call down and ask for an iron to be delivered to the room.

Had a beer in the room and ironed, then downstairs to meet Terry, Becky, and Patti. Becky got a huge limo for the ride to Mix. Ran a little late, so we missed the sunset. It's a nice place, but too swanky for this boy. I'll pass on the $10 drinks, thank you very much.

Had a Jaeger bomb or two...thanks to Terry and Ron! After that, I was designated photographer...which I don't mind at all because that is what I do best. I still have yet to see any of those photos sent to me. Hint Hint....

A bunch of us went to Binions coffee shop for dinner. Had some of the best Clam Chowder and General Tsao chicken...of course it could have been good because I was hammered.

Afterward, Al, Terry and I went back to the Plaza to play some poker at a 2-4 table. Terry got crappy hands all night but was smart enough to realize it and walk away with about half of his money. I was next to go, but only because lost my buy-in. Hit the Blackjack tables and 3 Card Poker tables while keeping an eye on Al playing poker. I think he went to bed around 3. I kept playing until the bitter end buying shots of Jaeger for everyone at all the tables I was playing at. Bad idea. WAY DOWN...and slunk off to bed around 6am.

Friday: A few of us met in Don's room for the racing seminar and made our bets. It was great to meet the Professor in person, and it was a nice little class...although none of us did too hot.

Terry couldn't make the Poker tourney on Sat, so a 7 of us had a table opened up for us so we could all play at the same table. That left 2 seats open for 2 people who didn't like our sense of humor and our way of poking fun at each other. One guy yelled at Bill for showing his horrible hand before he folded...kinda brought down the mojo at the table. We tried to explain that Bill had never played before, so this was his tutoring lesson...but it was still a downer.

After the game, went to McDonalds for grub, then off to bed for a nappy-nap.

Grabbed a cab and headed of to Angy's party. I was a little disappointed when I could only hear then one hallway away. Too many friendly people...I think it took me a good 5-10 minutes of hugs before I could make my first drink. I didn't think anyone else like Jaegerbombs, so I'd pour one an start to drink it when Bill would yell at me and say, "Hey! I want one!" I think this happened 5 times before I wisened up. Sorry Bill.

Met Sticky, who is also a photographer. We were becoming fast friends until she asked me that deadly question: "So, Nikon or Canon?" I said Nikon...saw the look on her face, and we just stood there glaring at each other with hatred in her eyes. Man, I hate Canon users!:haha: J/K Sticky!

I think I said 4 words to VegasDrea (Andrea). Maybe next time I'll get out 8 words before she gets pulled away.

Becky got me a limo ride for my welcome back present. (Thank you very much). So Becky, Patti, Sin, Paul, Bill, Jennifer and I took off for a little ride. It's the first time I met Paul, and he's a lot of fun to party with until he tries to get you kicked out of Subway for peeing in the dark.

I tried pimping Patti off to 5 guys on the sidewalk for $400 dollars each. I was sitting on one window and saw one person in our group at the other window getting a lap dance. I had my window down and looked over to see some girl taking a photo with her cell phone of the lap dance. Nice!

I got a 2 on 1 lap dance...but the vibe got weird when I started freaking out with two women that close to me in a small enclosed space. I got a little claustrophobic....and moved away from some breathing space. I guess I'm not used to being back in crowds yet. Sorry girls. Please don't take it personally.

Got back to find the penthouse suite was empty. Went to the bathroom and saw some sort of co-ed naked greco-roman wrestling tournament goin on...so I did what any self-respecting person would do...I sat down qietly in a chair and watched.:ssst:

After that I went back to the Plaza to play poker. Tried to order a beer and a shot of Jaeg, but they told me I drank so much the last night that they were out. How does a Las Vegas casino run out of Jaeger? Played my $100 and went to bed.

Sat: Went down to sign up for the Poker Tourney. I had special poker chips made for all the players that had Ron's Grain Train design on one side, and "Booze, Boobs, and Banana Chips, Bitches!" that I handed out.

Doug bought me 5 shots of SoCo in 10 minutes becuase I was the tables chip leader. I love you, ya bastard! Jennifer (DonD's wife) was the first to go out, so she had to wear my Porn-Slapper shirt. Sorry Jennifer! She was a good sport about it, but if I had known that someone not on the board was gonna win it, I would've washed it first.
Hearing Sin say at every hand "What would Terry do?" made me think that if Terry was there, he would say to "Shut up and fold!":poke: Hee hee
Knowing that the Friday group helped Bill with his first game of poker made me feel like a proud papa when he won the tourney. Way to go Bill!
After 6 hours of playing blackjack at Vegas Club with Patti and Sin, it was time for bed at 3am.

Sun: I thought about staying another night, thanks to Don, but changed my mind and decided to hit the road and spend a few days at home. My 4.5 hour drive home turned into an 8 hour and 10 minute drive thanks to 3 rain storms in the desert and traffic form Mammoth and Mountain high due to all the skiers coming back from that fresh powder in the mountains.

    Final Thoughts:
-It was a great trip, but that is just way too many people to put in some quality time with everyone.
-I would have liked to spend more time with Ross, Andrea, Mikey, Kellee, and Angy. Sorry I didn't get to talk to you guys more.
-Don did a great job with the horse racing...running back and forth between the poker game and checking to see how we were dooing on the horse racing on Friday afternoon.
-Doug did an awesome job with the Poker tourney. Thanks a lot.
-The guys at abcgiftsandawards.com make awesome poker chips and have never let me down.
-Thanks to Sin and Anaconda for a great dinner experience.
-Thanks to Becky for my first Martini in Vegas this trip.
-Mikey looks a whole lot better in a green wig then I do.
-I'm still waiting to get some photos in the e-mail (you know who you are).

I'm sure I left a lot out, some intentionally, and some because I just plain can't remember.

How can you tell a guy is in the military?

    emphasis mine....

Sounds like you had a blast! Better not forget those cameras when you attend the photo seminar--is that this weekend or next?? I could almost hate you for all these trips if I didn't know you were making up for time spent cramped on a ship overseas:haha:

Enjoyed yout prescision recollection of events, Larry. As far as female wrestling, I'd have been there w/ you.

Incidentally, this is the second TR that mentions ironing. Given the genreal state of players later on, was it worth the while?

Thanks again, Larry, for the pickup at the airport. Great time at the tables, although I'll let you tackle the jagerbombs from here on out...

    Hoya-
The photo conference is in April. This weekend is my friends from Minnesota anniversary, so they asked if I wanted to meet them out there.
And Hoya, not only do I iron, but since I seldom move when I sleep, I even make my bed and bag up the trash before housekeeping gets there. I know, sick, huh?

Jack21- You don't think I'd actually iron for this group of Yahoo's do ya? But you never know who you'll run into in Vegas.

Larry the butt slapper!! My sides and stomach r still aching from spending time with u and Sin at the Upper Deck and 6 hours or so at the Blackjack tables. The laughing helped me get over the sting of loosing $300.00 while I was sitting there. I had a great time and am so glad I got to know u. Sorry we didn't get to say bye in person but thanks for phoning when u r were on the road. Take Care and have fun on your return trip.

Larry, you are my favorite sailor & I'm not just sayin' that :nworthy: . (ok, that didn't sound so good)

Great job with the poker chips. Next time we play I'm gonna make you throw those shades in pot  . Any man that can drink a casino out of Jager is ok in my book. At least you got to say four words to Drea - I missed that boat completely.

    Good times
