Thought I would share this crazy series of mishaps at the MSS check in. Stayed there last week from Tuesday - Saturday. I have a common last name, Smith, so, I hand the MSS rep. my license and credit card and she looks puzzled at the computer and then me saying.... "who is Karen"

I'm confused and say "I don't know, why?"

She doubles down and says "are you sure you don't know Karen"

me "no idea, I am here alone, why"

She "well it seems Karen was assigned your room under your comps and what is your last four digits of your credit card?" (making sure they at least changed my card to karen's card)

She went on to say since Karen was in my room that she couldn't put me in another room under my promotional rates since mine were in use and if she assigned a new room it would be the going rate???? She calls the room and Karen answers, she explains the situation to her and that she needs to come down to straighten it out Karen's info. (At this point I am pissed that she is more worried about Karen and not me who is just wanting to check in!)

Solution was that I had to go around the corner and meet with a host that would re-book my room on paper under my promotional rate and then host would walk me back over and hand the girl the paper to which she could finally check me in.

Best part with the host, she couldn't find me in the system (right Smith), asks for players card to which I say, "I have not been able to unpack and if she wishes I can open my suitcase right here!" No No thats ok.

2nd best part with host is that I booked via the Bconnected app on my phone and the app had different promotional rates then the snail mailer? But eventually she found what she needed.

Ending - Original room booking was night 1 and 2 comped and 3 and 4 I paid. Host reversed the comped nights giving me the comped nights on 3 and 4 the more expensive nights and I paid nights 1 and 2. She told me in person I would still pay resort fees, but they never did!

Thinking back on this it was a bunch of comical errors but the host made it right by me, saving me some $$ while only costing about 25 minutes of sweet vegas time!
    Cheers!

    Good for you -
    But who was Karen ?
    ....was she a " Smith " ?
And Karen must have known something was not correct ?
But still got into that room under "your" promo rates ?
    Weird ?

Sounds like they fumbled the ball a couple of times, but recovered and got it into the end zone. A touchdown, but an ugly one still. If her name was Smith also, I guess this could happen, but I assume your first name isn't Karen so that's one mistake they missed. I also assume the CC # was different, so that's another. I would think training would dictate not going to the first res you find when searching a common name (Smith, Jones etc.).
In the end your host did the right thing, although a complete comp wouldn't have been outrageous considering your inconvenience. I think I would fire off an email to the GM
so that he or she is aware and you would prefer to avoid this in the future.

One time I checked into a hotel (not in Vegas) and when I entered my room, there was a lady already there. I excused myself and went back to the front desk. Now I'm thinking THAT was Karen!

At the time I didn't want to meet Karen as I was not at all happy with the delay of checking in, but now that I think of it I like keeping Karen a mystery and I can just use my imagination of who she could have been!
