Let's get the bad out of the way first.
The only real bad part was coming down with a head cold and not feeling really well most of the trip, and it made me go to bed even earlier than I usually do, so I really didn't see my friends as much as I wanted to. Also, I couldn't taste all the wonderful subtleties in the delicious food I was eating. And we all missed Terry, Larry, Sandra and Ron.
Other than that, MM VI ROCKED for me, particularly gambling wise... which is what this trip report will highlight. Most - but not all - have appeared on the Live from the Madness thread. Wait til you see what I left out...
I see that the stuff I twittered didn't include any of the captions I sent. I want to say right off that the 1000 hit on Wheel of Fortune was not mine. It was Dougie's. He sent the picture and I forwarded it with the comment that it was his, but the comment wasn't there.
But it's ok... I had plenty of good times on my own gambling!
1st night at Red Rock - video poker had taken quite a bit of my money before these beauties showed up.
That doubled mine and hubby's bankrolls. The next day I lost a very very (way too) fast $200 at vp at Encore before buying in at Pai Gow. Played $50 hands and walked away with a $600 profit, which was the banana chip I had pictured on Twitter. Unfortunately that money didn't stay with me too long. It was gone by dinner that night.
Then I went through a couple of more quiet days, including a day where just about the only gambling was at the annual poker tournament. I did lousy there - just wasn't feeling it this year and I basically committed suicide so I could walk around and watch, which was more fun to me this time around. At least I outlasted John. Again. :evillaugh
On Sunday we made a trip south to the M Resort, ostensibly to have a beer at their beer bar, but I ended up being dealt 4 deuces wild for $250 there. Really nice resort. Has a lot of similiarities to Red Rock.
Ok... the 23rd of March. A date that will go down in my history as one helluva nice day overall!
After breakfast, I felt like playing Wizard of Oz. I never play slots except when my friends are and I feel like hanging with them. And I did that back in October with WOZ and won, and thought it was really a fun game. So I put a hundy in the machine at Palazzo and played max coin ($3 a spin). It seems like 3 minutes in, the wheels kept turning, which means a visit from Glinda the Good Witch. She appears in her pink bubble and says to me "Don't worry! I'm a Good witch!". Damn straight! She's an awesome witch! She left me with 4 wild reels. I see it say "big win!" and it looks like $196 to me (it's a penny machine). I sent a text to a few people that I just won $196 on Wizard of Oz. The credits are ringing up, too slowly to suit me, so I hit the button to get ready for the next spin and all of a sudden the machine goes nuts and says JACKPOT! Handpay required! Uh, whatthe?? Oh! I misread the amount.
Hot damn!!
After that, I take Silversmiff, Crazy Eddie and Prometheusg out to lunch (it was my turn, clearly) and say goodbye to them. Then I walk back to Sephora, play in there for a few minutes, and get a call from sin who's leaving and bawling like a baby. Well dammit that made me cry too, right after having put on Sephora's makeup too. I needed a drink after that so I sat down at that round bar at Venetian that's kind of at the foot of the escalators. I found out it's called the Oculus Bar, but the only people that know that work there. I got a good amount of play for the first hundy I put in, so I rationalized to myself that I play $25/hand blackjack all the time... why not try a hundred at vp and play $25/hand vp?
Here's the first result of that experiment:
About 20 minutes after they hand paid me that, here's the 2nd result:
Alright!!! I would say that this is a succesful experiment.
I'm not sure what I did after those two hits. Remember I have a cold and am doped up on Benadryl so even without alcohol things are fuzzy. And alcohol had happened. I know I was just finishing up a pom martini when one of the handpays happened, and I got a Terry-sized shot of Patron. And people told me I made some very humorous phone calls right about then. I believe them...
Anyway, after dinner that evening, we walked around with Patti and Lynnie for awhile, and I got very dehydrated. John & I sat down at the round bar near Dos Caminos at Palazzo and I asked for two huge ice waters. Sucked those babies down right quick. Then I realized this machine was giving me a good amount of play at $5/hand so when John left I decided to experiment again and play $25/hand with a hundy.
Just a little after 11pm on March 23, 2009, I made a phone call to John. "Take a break, get over here. Get over here. RIGHT. NOW!". He obliged and I showed him this.
No. I cannot believe it myself. I am still shaking my head. But I think everyone should have the excellent experience of having 100 hundred dollar bills deposited into their hands at least once in their lives.
About 20 minutes after that, I got this hit, but it's (how sad is this?) kind of anticlimatic.
The bartender kept asking me if I wanted a shot, and I kept requesting huge glasses of ice water. :evillaugh
So, yeah, I totally stepped in it again.
It was a lot of fun!! But it's still not a cure for the common cold...
