My idea for filling the casinos / hotels would be to waive the resort fee(s). The Virgin property has waived the resort fee(s) This could be for new players or marketing to those who haven't been there in awhile just a thought or maybe the resort fee(s) be a credit for food, beverages, shows etc. Just my humble opinion. Imput welcome.

They actually have been pretty full lately, at least on weekends.
I would like to see them loosen up the machines.

Good idea, but I doubt anything like that will happen at this point. They had every opportunity to make things more customer friendly during the pandemic when their occupancy was in the trash. Instead, they chose to go the other direction and use it as an excuse to cut back on service and perks. Now that pent up demand is solving their occupancy problem, I wouldn't count on them making any positive changes any time soon. I hope I'm wrong...

Ain't gonna happen. Las Vegas has no problems attracting new visitors. Obviously, you haven't been to Las Vegas in awhile. I have been 6 times in the last 8 months. There is NO shortage of visitors.

I don't think they have any problem filling rooms right now.

Don't think resort fees will ever go away. We bitch about them here, but most first time Vegas visitors don't get hit with them or realize what they are until at check-in/out. They see advertising "NO RESORT FEES" they don't care or know what its about.

And for those who think a la carte is better... can you imagine?

    Toilet paper...$0.75 per sheet
    Pillow...$5.00 each
TV....$0.99 per minute, buy 5 minutes get 1 free
Toilet... $3.00 per flush. Flush 3 times within 2 minutes, get the 4th free..

    You get the picture...,

This deal will come in handy when CET decides food quality is no longer necessary.

They might go away if there's a legislative or regulatory prohibition, but otherwise, I agree. Casinos are very full right now, and "get rid of resort fees" is not exactly a new idea.

DialUn , I was in Vegas earlier this month. The reason was that the people would stay in the casino longer. Not to long ago the Tuscany was offering this promo and weather wise this is not the time to go or so it seems to me.

The people that casinos really want in their casino already don't pay for resort fees.

Plus when the convention trade starts going in earnest, many of those people don't care about resort fees because they don't personally pay for them, but the casino hotels rack in even more profit from these lesser gamblers.

As much as we all hate resort fees, Vegas seems to be doing a ton of business regardless right now, and looking at their covid numbers, I would kind of rather they did less filling of their hotels.

Not charging a resort fee is more transparent and less annoying, but hotels that do that just have a higher rate to compensate. Its seldom actual saved money.

IMHO, the Virgin property NEEDS to do something to bring in customers since they are "off strip".

Even with waived resort fees, I doubt that i would stay there.

Bring back all the buffets! I'm sure that tons of people are just holding back waiting for those suckers to open.

Loose machines? What is this loose machine of which you speak? Don't think I'm familiar with them.

Apparently, folks with way more knowledge and way more on the line. (their careers) do not agree.

I hate Resort Fees and think they are wrong...but as long as people keep coming and paying it, they are not about to stop it.

Resort fees are just a marketing gimmick. Hotel prices have to increase gradually year by year simply due to inflation, and the "resort fee" is just a way for hotels to keep up with inflation while still advertising "cheap" rates.

Resort fees are not going away unless you want to see a big jump in advertised hotel prices.

The hotels seem full WITH resort fees. Desired players don’t pay them. There is no chance they are going away in an effort to fill rooms.

Reading through the RJ article it is hard to believe occupancy is less than it was 2 years ago since everything seems so crowded now. It must be the impact of the limited hours, staffing and still-closed outlets.

That right there, what's just above. Bingo. As has been the case the other 1,345 times this concept came up here.
