    My Trip Report

This was a last minute trip planned with 3 days notice. What would you do if you suddenly found out you had time off you didn't know about? Well, what I did was book 3 nights at Paris for a quick getaway and soul soother.

I arrived at about 5:15 on Saturday evening, got the luggage, and went outside to one of the shortest cab lines I've ever seen. It couldn't have been more than 4 minutes. After asking the cab driver to not take the tunnel, he kind of chuckled and inferred that I didn't like the tunnel because it was dark. Yeah, that's it. He was very chatty and very foreign, and I struggled to understand him. But he was a nice enough guy and I tipped him big.

At Paris I decided to just nicely ask for a strip view. I wasn't sure about the clerk, he seemed a little crabby. But, to my surprise, he gave me a "P" room on the 27th floor, a corner room with an almost complete fountain view. Of course, that was the only thing I had a view of, but that was okey dokey by me. I could hear the music from the show through the window. The room was quite nice, tastefully decorated in gold, brown, and red, complete with a plasma hi-def TV. And a phone by the toilet, which I actually used when I was putting on makeup and housekeeping called me. I find a toilet phone to be hilarious. I would stay in this room again in a heartbeat.

I'm not going to go into too much detail about how I spent my days. A lot of walking around and playing slots. A few good slot hits, though. I have a weakness for dollar Wheel of Fortune machines. So I went downstairs and sat at my first machine at Paris. By the time I stood up I had hit a $1000 spin and cashed out $900. So I wandered over to the Flamingo and hit another $1000 spin! I'd never even hit one before. A day later I was at The Venetian, and hit a bar 7 and 2 of whatever multiplier it was for another $1000. Crazy luck for me. Of course, I ended up for the trip down a few hundy.

There were some guys from work in town at the same time doing their annual "guy trip" and I met them Sunday at Blondies at P HO to watch the Colts game. I went on my merry way after that. Even if they were to welcome me hanging out with them, I know better. These guys are animals :evillaugh

At some point I headed over to the Bellagio to check out the conservatory. All decked out for Christmas, and I enjoyed it a lot. Check it out if you're going to be in town.

I took the shuttle to Rio on Monday just for a scenery change. Ate at the Bar and Grill there, played slots and watched the game. I love that free shuttle.

I went back to Paris and sat down at the first slot I sat at where I had the big win. Put in a hundred and cashed out $300. I talked myself into quitting and leaving on a winning note. Went up to the room, watched some TV and went to bed. Checked out the next morning at about 10:15 and they comped my room.

That's about it. Didn't eat anything special, as when I'm on my own I just grab whatever when I'm hungry. Didn't see any shows. Just had a nice leisurely time on my own, doing whatever I felt like doing. I'm doing it again in January.

Some random thoughts.....I like this trend I've been seeing of trashing those old horrible ugly bedspreads in favor of crisp white linens......maybe it's just me, but I find the casino at Caesar's to be really confusing......I didn't even set foot in Barbary Bill's..I think I'm officially over Big Elvis......I saw a guy kicking and swearing at a slot machine..that was funny......if you're on you own playing slots you can meet a lot of nice people playing next to you......if I had to drive up and down the strip all day I think I'd kill myself......I was standing on the bridge between the Bellagio and Bally's watching the fountains and heard a woman telling her friends, "this is old hat" and I wanted to punch her..to me the fountains are never old hat, unless it's that Celine song..I hate that damn thing......and by the way, if you stand still on that bridge you can feel it moving..kinda creepy......I think if the price continues to be right I may make Paris my home..I really enjoyed my stay there, except housekeeping kept forgetting to leave me conditioner..but they did leave me an extra shower cap. Score!

    Thanks for reading!

Nice quick trip Murph. Too bad the gambling winning didn't keep up, but overall it sounds like a fun trip

It's not just you regarding the confusing casino at Caesars. It took me actually staying there to find my way around. Now, I still get ridiculously lost at Planet Ho....and probably always will.

Nice TR, thanks for posting. Great to hear about the hits on WOF. I'm also a sucker for the $1 WOF.

    Go Solo!

Wow, I want to be you.
Love those leisurely solo trips. $2-3,000 and extra shower caps to boot!
Glad to hear your trip went well.

Thanks for the trip report. I know what you mean about Ceasers. It took me staying there to finally figure it out like someone else said. My sister will not even step foot in there for fear of not being able to get out.

LOL - I swear if I start at one end of Ceasar's and make it all the way to the other I should be at the top end of the strip by the time I get out!!!

I did actually come close to panicking once when I truly thought I'd never find a way out. I guess I could have asked someone, "excuse me, but how in the %#&@ do I get out of here?!"

When the Mirage first opened we stayed there and I had one hell of a time getting out. Finally, I asked a dealer, which way to go. The dealer said to follow this thin orange line in the carpeting and that worked out just fine. About a month later, the fire department made them rearrange the tables and such to make it easier.

Nice TR Murph. Glad you made it out with the weather you were having. If departures are backed up, can you use your line pass to get your flight out quicker? :rolleyes2:
