    My Trip Report

I traveled with my 21yo nephew to Vegas to attend a FIRST robotics event at UNLV.

Flight: SWA from Phoenix to Vegas takes about 50 min in the air. Now that’s the way to travel screw driving 5+ hrs.

    Alexsys Park Resort.
I stayed here about 10 years ago and I remember thinking it was ok but the airport noise was INSAINLY loud.
This trip I found that they had upgraded the facility and the airport noise was no longer an issue. The staff was excellent. The room is big and nice. The bed was comfortable and the toiletries were numerous and nice even including a ladies razor. They have 3 pools and the grounds are kept up nice. I would stay there again but the location is not great.

We took a cab to Palazzo to eat at the Grande Lux Café
I had the Asian Nachos It was a mix of great flavors. Thanks Mikey for the recommendation.
Nephew had the pulled pork sandwich and enjoyed it.

    Slots A Fun Video Poker
This place is a favorite of mine but its getting crowded. We were there Wednesday at 2pm and it was packed. I saw a BJ table that I could swear was $1 and it had people standing around to get a seat. I guess there are still some low rollers in Vegas.

    Craps At Rivera
I forced my nephew to play some $5 craps with me. We bought in for $40 and played a while and left with $35. I explained it’s an easy game just put $5 on the pass line and roll the dice. If they take your money you lost and if they put more money next to your bet you won.

Rio for the Penn and Teller show.
I didn’t want to see the show so I walked my nephew to the show and walked back to the casino.
I went to the video poker bar and drank and played.
When I was properly buzzed I wandered the casino in search of fun.
I found a progressive poker machine and I put $20 in.
Second hand I held a king of clubs. And…
ROYAL FLUSH ! It filled in 4 to a ROYAL FLUSH ! On a progressive machine! $1003.00 :evillaugh
<Insert happy dance here>YEEEE HAAAAAA! My first Royal Flush! My first HAND PAY! I tipped the guy $23 and played out the remaining credits and went to find my nephew.

A little back story. On the flight here I told my nephew that when you go to Vegas with a friend you should share the love when you win. This is a must! If anybody wins $200 they buy dinner or $1000 and they pay for the other persons flight. When he got out of the show and I asked him if he remembered what I told you about traveling to Vegas with a friend? I handed him $200 and told him that should cover the flight and the show.

My nephew spent his first day eating lunch at Grand Lux in Palazzo.
Playing at Slots A Fun, Riviera.
    Walking around Paris and Rio.
    Penn and Teller show.
Getting paid $200 to do it. Not a bad first day. Another Vegas lover is born.
    I am a good Uncle.

I hit the Hard Rock Wednesday night and decided to buy in to a $10 craps table for $100. I played for 3+ hours. I was up $100 before giving it all back, but it sure was fun.
The center bar at hard rock was a zoo.

Ellis Island. The staff was the most friendly I have ever seen. I saw staff kissing and hugging people all over the place. You have to respect that.

Walked from Ellis Island to Barbary Coast, Flamingo, O’Sheas, IP and Casino Royal.

This my first time in Casino Royal and I liked it. I sat at the bar playing video poker and did ok and had a few drinks. I liked the place and can see spending some more time there.

I walked to TI and met up with the other team members. Waiting for them to finish dinner I was playing a slot for 25c a pull and hit for $100. Nice for a quarter. I hit a red seven-red seven-triple. If I had played the 3 quarters it would have been $400. Oh well don’t get greedy.

The next day we got free tickets to Blue Man Group. I didn’t think I would like the show but I did. Especially for free.

To the people that jay walk on the Strip I say:
Taxies should be equipped with big cattle guard scoops like in “Soylent Green†to scoop up all the idiots who cross the street when the light is RED! Hey how else do we stock the buffet? I love ribs broken or not.
“SOYLENT GREEN IS MADE FROM PEOPLE… PEOPLE...†http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Sp-VFBbjpE&feature=related
If your stupid enough to walk around like cattle you should be treated like cattle.
    Stupid is as stupid does.
    But I digress.

Ok I think that’s enough rattling on. Thanks for reading.

    Love the Soylent Green reference.
You're a good man spreading the wealth around to your nephew.

Congrats on the RF and sharing the wealth deserves a :nworthy:
I gotta agree on the jaywalking. If they allowed the taxis to run em down when they crossed against the light I bet there would be fewer jaywalkers. How'd the Robotics event go?

Nice trip report. I am pretty shocked at the people who J-walk. The Las Vegas strip is a VERY dangerious road to try that on.

Congrats on the royal! When I was staying at the Riviera in November I was sitting at the VP bar having some drinks when on the 2nd draw I pulled 10,J, Q, K, A all RED. Problem was all diamonds and one heart :( I was excited at first though.

Anytime you can turn a quarter into $100 and fill in a royal drawing 4 cards, you had a good trip. I try to hit Slots Of Fun around 10 in the morning. Not as crowded then. You are a good man to share the wealth.
