I'm also struggling on when to convert money. I have a January trip to Vegas scheduled and a December trip to Florida. I can convert now for both or do one at a time gambling that the rate will improve.

I'm torn on which way to go.
    Any good advice?

On the flip side, we will be renting out a home in Niagara-on-the-Lake (website not up yet but, backing onto one of the wineries) starting in May - hope to get a bunch of our southern cousins staying with us taking advantage of the exchange, backyard fall.jpg as well as catering to the Canucks who won't be going south of the border this year.

10-15 minutes from Fallsview in case anyone was wondering:)

The forecast on the $$ is that it may still get worse, not better. I'd consider exchanging now for 1 trip, and hope that you win some $$ to finance the second trip. If that doesn't happen, go with whatever the exchange rate is on the second trip at that time.

We need to trade health care for a small Caribbean island. You know, get some island to join Canada, and "we'll take care of your boys - you dint see nothin'".

Nah, we just need to buy a failing Vegas casino and make it the Canadian embassy. Sovereign canadian ground, gamble with CDN and no taxes.

Also, it would get the mob back in to vegas because:

If Caesars Windsor offered free drinks it would at least be a decent option. I doubt that will ever happen though.

It's been talked about and the Mayor of Niagara Falls says he wants it to happen in Niagara Falls. Obviously a lot of people against it and it's so unique in Vegas. On the Strip there are always tons of drunk people, I get that they don't want the same across the river of a very crime filled area as it is. (Detroit)

I think its against provincial liquor laws, isn't it? Which would require a 'fix' from the same government that promised beer in grocery stores, then capped the number of stores, gave each store a quote, etc etc etc,

By the time they are done, casinos will be able to comp you one blue light per day if you fill out the appropriate form.

I cashed my US refund cheque today. Exchange was just over 34% so to buy USD right now will be close to 40%. We go to Vegas at least 2-3 times a year but 2016 will be a different story. I think it's time for a break from US vacations. I cannot justify being 40% behind before I even touch a button on a machine.

Ultimately when it comes to gambling the exchange rate means nothing unless you currently play the minimum bets for things (ie 40 cents on the penny machines). if you normally bet $1 a spin drop down to 60 cents (or around there depending on the machine) and you are risking the same amount you were risking before.

Hotels, shows, eating out etc. are a different story tho and they increase the cost of your trip as you can not just "eat smaller" to offset the exchange. So I do get it.

Another low hit. Almost at $1.39. My bank is charging $1.43 for exchange right now.
