Got home last week from our 2nd trip! I had so much fun, I didn't want to leave! Hubby and I stayed at the Venetian from Sunday til Friday - what a beautiful place and the rooms are very nice. We celebrated our 3rd anniversary while there, ate at many good restaurants...the best two were Delmonico and Grand Lux. Ate at the Bellagio buffet, that was good. We walked all over the place, and had fun playing in all the hotels. Every time hubby sat a slot machine, he lost, everytime I sat down I won something! My biggest win out of a slot wasn't money, but a diamond ring! I still can't believe I won it. We were at the Rio and I noticed this big contraption saying something about winning diamonds. Now, I'm the biggest jewelry lover there is, so it peaked my interest. It was a 5 cent slot so I threw a $5 bill in, and on my FIRST pull everything lined up GOLD! I felt really important because a bunch of people came over with suits and radios and I got to pick which piece of jewelry I wanted. I chose a 3 diamond ring. Hubby lost $60. It's at my jeweler's getting sized, and he's a Vegas buff too so I told him the story and he couldn't believe it. He passed the ring to everyone else and told them the story because he was in awe! Okay, that was my jackpot...it's estimated about $1500. Not too shabby for $2.25. We got up early Friday morning and drove to Los Angeles, we stopped at Primm Valley and I won $95 on $20 so that worked out well. Hubby lost $40 hehe. We were in Hollywood and I was at Sephora and Elizabeth Taylor was in there so I had my celebrity siting. We ate at an Italian place that just opened that day, and all the food was free, we only had to pay for our bar bill...food and service were excellent so we tipped big. I walked and window shopped down Rodeo Drive...I've ALWAYS wanted to go there, so that was fun. We spent 2 nights in San Diego....I liked what I saw of that city....did the Zoo thing which was cool. On our way back, we stopped at Primm again....I won $90, hubby lost $50. At the airport, I won $60, hubby lost $40...see a recurring theme here lol?! Then, to top it off, I won a free soda, he didn't. I wish I had a dime everytime he said, "why do you ALWAYS win, and I always lose?" Out front of NYNY, all those t-shirts from different fire depts made we tear up a little, I wasn't expecting that. Oh yeah...we went to Coyote Ugly.. it wasn't that great, but I danced on the bar so that was fun. Oh yeah, word of advise to men...do NOT wear ties in there or they'll take them and tie them above the bar, and you don't get it back. Okay this was our trip in a nutshell, i'm sure I left some things out. Thanks for reading, if you got this far!
Hey, that was quite a roady! Vegas, Beverly Hills, San Diego, and Vegas again...nice job!! The tee shirts at NYNY caught me be surprise too when I was there in February...I'm pretty sure some dust or something flew into my eyes....
It was quite a road trip, but it was so much fun! We decided to go to California while out there because neither of us had been out there before. I bought the airline tickets online while hubby was at work and "accidentally" added an extra day to our trip. Opps! He wasn't too impressed at first but he warmed up to the idea quickly!! One other thing I wanted to note was the heat. It was 105+ degrees the whole week in Vegas but I liked it....no humidity. Came back to Maine, it was in the 80's and 90's with high humidity and sweat more in 2 days here sitting around than I did the whole week walking around out there. With hubby going back to school in the fall, we won't be able to travel again for 3 years I don't know what I'm going to do with myself. Good luck to all of you who have Las Vegas trips coming up!
Hey Orbaya! I have a bunch of family that lives in Maine! My uncle said it was over 100 on July 4th...I told him if I was somewhere where the temperature was over 100, it had better be Vegas! You are right about the dry heat... makes it much more tollerable...you don't get wet and sticky, it's just hot. Going to test my heat endurance starting tomorrow on the Vegas links!
It's a Cinderalla story...a former greenskeeper about to become the new Masters Champion... Tear up them links Terry! And find the cafe in the Golden Gate for the rest of us. Mikey
LV Terry, Where in Maine is your family? I've lived all over the state...South Portland, Yarmouth, Cape Elizabeth, Orono/Bangor, Waterville and now right outside Belfast. Any family in those areas?? Yes, July 4th was a killer...the humidity was unbearable! It's cooled off and it's more comfortable now. Have fun with those links!
