Anyone signed up for this? We came out yesterday and it’s been a bunch of nothing - none of the restaurants know anything about the “onsite activations” and aside from a bag full of oddly-sided shirts and a box of chocolate bars we’ve seen nothing related to the event. Incredibly disappointing for something they advertised as a unique experience. Even all the pages about it on RWLV’s site are now missing/taken down.

Yep - unfortunately all true. It really feels like whoever decided to book this at RW forgot to tell everyone else who works there about it. They threw a couple stickers on the front door and put the graphics on channel 8, but that was about it. We’ll see how it all gets handled over the next few days, it’s really picking up on social media (as you’d expect given the people involved). I’m sure they’ll make it right.

I never heard of Mr Beast until I read about the fiasco at RW. I hope you are all given full refunds.

RW sent an email late last night (just got it this morning) that they're proactively refunding everyone. The Beast team also posted on X/Twitter that they're going to do something too, but I have to imagine that depends on how many people actually signed up for this event (that is, if 75 people signed up it's probably easy to make everyone whole; if 5,000 people signed up then I'm not expecting anything special).

But to RW's credit, refunding the whole thing within 24 hours of the event ending is a great move. I think their CEO took a big mis-step offering to meet with people but not having a plan beyond waiving the third night cost (for those leaving early) and the $100 in resort credits, since that just made people more angry in person. I'm not a high roller by any means but I've been Imperial and am currently Prime, and had they pushed back on this I would not have walked into those doors again to do anything but burn any remaining free play.

I saw all the videos of the CEO talking to the attendees on socials. I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Dixon didn't realize how popular Mr. Beast is or how vocal people are on socials. Glad they are correcting their original offer and refunding everyone for their entire trip.

  • #divorced and sneaking in a no play stay at CP before all comps are gone
  • Canada Day and 4th of July all in one!
I'd like to know how many people actually booked this thing. I saw a news story on it today morning which showed RWLV CEO Alex Dixon speaking with disgruntled attendees. Couldn't have been more than 50 people; obviously there'd be more attendees that didn't bother to show up or just went home early. If turn out wasn't as expected, I could totally see this as a fabrication in an attempt to go viral, given it's Mr. Beast, the "king of viral videos". RWLV gets to showcase their hotel and service recovery under their new CEO, while Mr. Beast gets a few "how I'll make it up" videos to draw in people for his next event.

BTW Who the hell is Mr Beast?
An exceptionally popular online personality/streamer. Probably most famous for giving away lots of money as part of his videos. Now, he is branded on all sorts of products and has other projects (e.g., game shows)

  • Ready for Pool Season
  • What is this "slot tournament" you speak of?
The guy didn't even show up for his own event either?
They weren’t advertising that he was going to be there, so that wasn’t a surprise. It was supposed to be a series of interactive “experiences” which I assume would be based on things he has done on his videos or on his Beast Games show on Prime.

I don’t have any inside info aside from being someone who attended but I’d guess this was just a licensed event using their branding and they had little to no direct involvement, but since social media is his entire platform, his fans are obviously going to be vocal about the event on social media so it does represent his brand poorly and that his team is doing damage control.

(I’m also being very deliberate with explaining that these are guesses because as I’ve seen already, any single post about this can suddenly become a “news article” that gets passed around and/or blows up online.)

No idea how many. They said about 50 people came down for the CEO discussion but the only way you knew that was happening was if you were in a group chat with others. Nothing official was ever sent out to attendees, I feel it was more of a “a group of angry people are in the casino, go deal with it” situation. They didn’t heavily promote it though so I can’t imagine it was more than a hundred or so total.

I did get one email at the end of January specifically promoting the MrBeast experience, as a general RW Prime member, similar to promotions for concerts and pool season. So they did advertise it widely.

I never got the "upcoming announcement" in my inbox, so it looks like they advertised it once and that was it.

When the chocolate bars hit the shelves the kids went crazy.
Plays poker, purchases islands

BTW Who the hell is Mr Beast?
Like others said, branding, viral videos
This is what my son said;

Just like money challenges: ex. last to leave a small circle wins 100k, last one to leave hand on car wins it etc

What’s an “on-site activation”?

What’s an “on-site activation”?
I like ChatGPT's definition of this, with emphasis in red on the part related to this event's issues:

"On-site activations at an event usually refers to interactive brand experiences or activities that are set up at the event location. These are designed to engage attendees, promote a product or service, and create memorable experiences.

Some examples:
  • A photo booth sponsored by a company where people can take branded pictures.
  • A VR demo station where guests can try a new game or product.
  • A giveaway or contest booth that requires participation to win.
  • A custom merchandise station where you can design your own item (e.g., screen-printed shirts or hats).
  • A product sampling area for food, drinks, or beauty products.
In short, it’s marketing that’s fun, interactive, and physically present at the event — not just signage or sponsorship logos."

Wait a minute. I thought I was making fun of a typo of the word "activities" not stumbling on an intentional made up usage of another word to mean "activities"....
