    My Trip Report

    November 8-16
3 nights Elara, 2 nights Paris, 3 nights Bellagio

We left SAT at 1:50 aboard Southwest FLT 1634. Arrived LAS 2:45pm. Grabbed the Car Rental Shuttle. We riding around in some kind of Hundai SUV for the next week. Made a quick stop at Smith’s grocery south of the CRC on LVB. Purchased some water, ginger ale, apples, bananas, shampoo and body wash. Gotta stay hydrated and clean while we’re here.

After the grocery stop we headed for the hotel. Elara on Harmon, part of Hilton Grand Vacations. Our home until Sunday morning. Next door is Planet Hollywood. Received a nice room on the 17rh floor with a partial view of the south strip. We’re relaxing in the room watching the evening news. Offering our prayers for the shooting victims in Thousand Oaks. Lord have mercy.

The photos are of a canyon with a river running through it and a big lake. I took them from our airplane. India Palace on Twain just east of Paradise is on the agenda for dinner. Food porn pics later.

Before going to dinner we walked over to the Miracle Mile for a stroll through the shops. After a day of mostly sitting we needed to move a little.

After our stroll we spent an hour in Planet Hollywood playing Video Poker. Played Dueces Wild and Double Double Bonus at the .25 level for a couple hours. The action was up and down. Eventually burned my $100 buy in.

India Palace was outstanding. We eat here on most of our Vegas adventures. India Palace is located at 505 E. Twain. We are back in the room now. Gonna chill and hit the sack early.

Gambling - down $100 for the trip

The pic is of the remains of our dinner. I had intended to take pics of the food when it arrived at the table. When the food arrived I forgot all about the pics. She ordered Jumbo Shrimp Tandoori. I got Bihindi Masala. We shared some Sag Paneer and an order of Garlic Naan bread. Finished with a rice pudding. It was all fabulous. The bill was $69 and change. I had a $25 Restaurant.com certificate. So the final amount was $44 and change.

Up and moving in the room. I actually slept until 7:45am. Amazing ‘cause that is 9:45am at home. We’re headed to Miracle Mike to have breakfast at La Salsa. Check-in later. Have a fine Friday everyone.

8640054B-395A-42EE-8F25-63F94F7ED3F5.jpeg Just finishing breakfast La Salsa special $4.79. 2 eggs, sausage or bacon, potatoes and corn or flour tortillas. Very solid breakfast. Gonna gamble a little at PH. Then Headed back to the room to get a little more gussied up for the day ahead. Going downtown to the Container Park early afternoon and bounce around Fremont East. Later dinner at Wolfgang Pucks Cucina in the Crystals mall adjacent to Aria. Of course some Video Poker crack will happen too.

    This pic is of breakfast.

Good Morning y’all. Since I last posted? Well we putzed around mid-Strip yesterday until early afternoon. I processed to lose another 2 Benjamin’s playing Video Poker. Lotta play no big hits. The Container Park didn’t happen. We opted for an afternoon nap. I enjoyed a long soak in the jacuzzi tub. We dressed for the evening over at Crystals/Aria.

Pics are a chopped bike on display at PHo, Cher was at The Park Theater last night and the Friday evening traffic at LVB and Harmon.

Dinner at Wolfgang’ Cucina was fabulous. She had a fine glass of Malbec. I had a very well prepared Old Fashion. She immensely enjoyed her Rib Eye and I groaned with delight over my Oso Bucco. Since it was the evening before our Anniversary Day they treated us with a lovely dessert. Tort Caprese. Awesome.

Following dinner we gambled at Aria. I lost another $100 playing DDB VP. Played for a long time before the machines took me down.

This morning we are going to grab breakfast at Homies and then head for Valley of Fire.

BTW - the weather is fantastic. Bright sunshine with temps in the 40’s to low 50’s at night; mid sixties during the day.

Gambling - down $400 for the trip

Our breakfast at Homies Cinnamon Rolls and Comfort Food Cafe was a great. Homies is located at 3035 E. Tropicana Ave. Breakfast #3 on the menu came with 2 eggs, sausage or bacon, hashbrowns, a cinnamon roll and coffee. It sells for $12.00. I had a Restaurant.com certificate - spend $20 get $10 off. We split the #3 and ordered a second cup of coffee and two pecan cinnamon rolls. The two rolls will participate with breakfast tomorrow.

Homies is a wonderful neighborhood cafe. The staff is friendly. The owner, Harold Rose, is a great guy. He’s a Vet fulfilling a longtime dream to have a restaurant. He loves to bake. God willing my wife and I will visit here on again.

After breakfast we made a 1 hour and 20 minute to Valley of Fire State Park. It was awesome. Did some walking and picture taking and had a picnic lunch. Great afternoon.

Some pics from Valley of Fire.

More pics from the VoF. Cool 4,000 year old petroglyphs out there.

As I write it is 5:45pm here in Vegas. We are going over to Hard Rock to have our official Anniversary dinner. I hope to take some food porn pics.

Our special dinner at Nobu at Hard Rock was truly amazing. I purchased a deal from TravelZoo. The deal was $129 for a 7 course dinner for 2 people. My wife enjoyed a fine glass of Sake. I enjoyed an Old Fashion made with a great Japanese Whisky.

The meal include some edamame in a spicy garlic peanut sauce, Shishimi (sp), sushi. Tempura sea bass, a luscious shrimp dish, an amazing cut of tenderloin, and stuff I don’t remember what is called. The desert was amazing too. I forgot to get a pic of one of the courses.

After dinner we spent about 33 minutes in the casino. I was on the verge of a food coma. We decided to head back to the room. Short VP session cost me another Benjamin. I’ve yet to hit a decent hand. Not a single quad on DDB. A bunch of 4OAK playing Dueces Wild. Hopefully today my luck will turn. Have a fine Sunday, y’all.

We are headed out to Seven Magic Mountains. Have to avoid driving around and in the strip this afternoon. The Rock and Roll Marathon is happening today.

Gambling - down $500 for the trip. Yikes!

Got checked out of Elara. Drove around on Audrie to Paris. Self parked and lugged our stuff to the front desk. Good exercise. We are here for a couple of comped nights. Begged for a comped upgrade to a Le Mans suite ‘cause it’s our anniversary trip. She went and talked to a supervisor and you see from the photos - my first WIN of this trip! The room was ready. So we are in the room relaxing and it is 10:28am.

In a little while we’re headed toward Jean, Nevada to see the art installation, Seven Magic Mountains. Planning on a early dinner at Sake Roc. I haven’t gambled today. So I haven’t increased my loses yet.

Pics of the room at Paris.

I'll never understand why the French put water fountains in their bathrooms. :D. Nice room.
