@Flowers I ALWAYS love your grace and graciousness...and I always love your TR. You definitely seem to have a similar bond/style with your mom, and I know yoyr trip will be magical! You nailed it, my mom and I are intensely close, so this trip was absolutely critical to me.

I know your trip with your mom will be amazing too, and I can't wait to follow your adventures!

    Edited and added below:

@Flowers, I just read your update, and I ABSOLUTELY understand. My mom is quite a bit younger, but she has always been a morningbird, "let's go explore" active one. She is still in great health, knock on wood, but I did see the slow down on movement. Not wanting to walk as far, not wanting to be out as long, and it broke my heart, because, while still young now, it was a slight slow down I've never seen, and it saddened me because she had always been the go getter (I'm the lazy one, not her!). But, it just means these trips, and times, are that much more critical to cherish.

I love that your mom LOVES the in-room pampering where she can truly focus on her and relax. With her taking care of your father, yes, that in-room "me" time would be very therapeutic for her, and classic Flowers, you know just how to deliver. Sometimes a mini muffin and coffee in bed is more magical than a five course meal!

Again, I can't wait for your trip, I just had to follow up on your follow up, as it touched me...

Yes, I know what you mean about the slowing down. It makes us sad but I guess is a part of life. But what is great is that your mom is still having a blast, but it is just a more relaxed and chilled blast rather than a frenzied one.

When I am in Vegas I sometimes have days where I am running so hard from place to place. Naturally this trip will not be that kind of trip.

I have it pretty much mapped out and it will be at a relaxed pace with fewer shows and big meals -- her preference -- and more time for playing, sleeping by the pool, spaiing, and more playing and shopping and a few hours at the Bellagio conservatory and scooting up and down the strip at night (also her preference :)). That's a great trip for me too so I am looking forward to it. My mother has had her fair share of health scares so I am especially grateful and thankful that she can still travel.

Thanks again for sharing and I will definitely do a report, not a minute by minute one but I will do one.

It's so great to see you having such a great time with your Mom. Sometimes the best trips are staying in and doing some self-care and Mom-care. Looking forward to the last day.

Sooooo, I know I am the queen dawdler on finishing, but guess what, like Star Trek, this IS the final frontier, the last night!

So, picking up where I left off, after a great but wild Friday night, I rolled into the room way too late, and not as well behaved as I thought I was (the long walk back to the room proved it!)

But, I was in safe and sound, no money run, and hit the hay, my mom was down for the count like an angel. (My halo was definitely dented.)

The next day was our final night (well, same day since I snuck in late, like 5:00 am) so once up and at em’, my mom and I went out and about exploring.

Neither of us wanted a formal sit down, but I just couldn't pay $20 for a combo meal at Aria’s Burger Bar, food credit or not.

Well, my mom usually doesn't like pizza....but there is chain pizza, and there is VEGAS pizza.

I love Five 50 and usually get the Gotham, but I have always wanted to try their truffle pizza. MY mom was ALL over Five50 (she gave the 20$ combo meal a rasberry too)....so we hit Five50.

We had a sweetheart at Five50 l, who let us do 1/2 and 1/2, with truffle and the gotham, even though two different sauces.

    Score!

My mom got her beloved dark beer. (Everytime she orders a beer she apologies, because she always thinks "laadiiieess" don't drink beer. I always tell her "laadiiieess" can have whatever they want, as long as they do it with aplomb!)

So, turns out, she went bonkers over the pizza. We LOVED both, and I was so happy to have finally tried the truffle pizza!

Still, a slight nod to the Gotham. I normally don't like all meat, but that pizza is sinfully good, as my mom agreed. We ate the whole thing, minus one "polite" piece to go home for my mom's morning snack. (Our flight wasn't until 5:00 pm the next night.)

So, pizza gone, we walked around the casino, did some light play here and there, we played the shark game together, and then we hit my mom's Pegasus game. It was just a fun, relaxing night.

Like previous nights, we ate and played a little, and when she got tired, I walked her to the room, where we then we hung out a bit, visited, soaked in the Vegas view, and just enjoyed the evening. It was our seventh night, and my mom had had a blast, and she was not ready to leave!

This made me SO happy, because on a five day trip (years ago) she was ready by day 4. But, on our Aria-Cosmo trip, she just kept talking about how she could live in the corner suite. I told her if she had a cool million or so we could probably find one for her, with astronomical HOA's of course.

FYI, I'm not a terrible daughter for being dry.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

My mom's favorite phrase when I was growing up, and I did something dumb that she had told me not to?

    "Happy?"

I might be dry, but I get it from her!

All in all, it was a magical trip, and my mom was ready for a bath then bed.

Sooooooooooooooo, it was my last night in Vegas. I had behaved after the first two nights (and even came in a little under budget on a couple nights), so I had slightly over a full night's budget, and I planned to do some damage!

This was going to be my most expensive trip to date gaming-wise, but not hugely over, and BOY did I have a blast and relax, so I was ok with it.

    Aria gaming floor...here I come...

So, yep, I wrote off this trip as an expensive one, but it was truly magical, and one of my best trips ever...worth every penny. So, I wasn’t going to try to save a little on the last night, I was going to enjoy that night’s budget, but I DID plan to make it last.

So, I started my warm up on Keno, Caveman Keno. (Thank you @jENBEAU , this game just flat relaxes me. There is another keno game I like but can’t remember it.)

So, from Keno, I see a Quick Hits game I haven’t played before. Once I look at the machine, I remembered a crazy, booze-fueled dream I that had the night before. (Ok, yes mom, “ladiiiies” can do what they want, if they do it with aplomb, but that does NOT include using the word “booze”. Thanks so much SirGrumpsALot, my FIL, for the charming term!)

But back to the game and the dream. When I look at the QH game, I remembered a GREAT dream I had the night before.... I dreamt that I had hit 8 Quick Hits. Fat chance, but I did sit down and grinned, how fun would that be, to hit 8, after dreaming it?

I was barely 1/10 of the way in on my nightly bankroll, so I plopped down and started spinning, chatting with a nice lady next to me. It was just a great night, and I was happy, and played about 5-10 minutes.

Then the game froze. (I don’t remember if it was a bonus round or not)

I quit chatting and look up. HOLY FREAKING CRAP....

it was eight Quick Hits.... just like my dream!!!!

    C3304572-3D85-4B64-B31B-760E80F42374.jpeg

Not to be a dork, but it genuinely made me teary eyed. I was ok having an expensive trip, as it was SO nice with my mom, but to have a dream, then sit down and get 8 QH the next day? We all know how rare that is with QH, and it just really was special for me. And it definitely made my trip go from “most expensive” to totally affordable, though still in the red (7 nights guys, don’t judge me )

After the handpay, I was on cloud 9, but I was cringing. Crap. One of my VERY few handpays years ago was Aria, and again, I had a comped tower suite, and walked away in the black. Again I’m at Aria, and back in the black, on a totally comped stay. I’m going to be in the dog house!

So, I decide to pocket the win, but still play my daily budget that I had left, as I was nowhere CLOSE to ready for bed, and I still wanted coin in.

Again, I put the win in a TOTALLY separate stash, and then I had fun going more wild/loose to get a little coin-in.

First Dragon Spin. Not a favorite game, but fun, and I’ve had it give me light “padding” on bankroll, which was my goal. Lightening sure as heck won’t strike twice, so my goal was extending my play, versus chasing a win. 9F76DCF0-2242-4310-BF0A-5ED065952032.jpeg and a little more 008CE371-9738-4A30-B8EB-976A79737F1D.jpeg

Man, $4.00 a spin on a comp maker machine, just to get coin in. This was FUN. I felt like the slot version of a body builder who eats high calories because they have to. Fun, fun, fun!

Dragon Spin went south though, and I’m only so-so on liking the game. $100 return on $4 a spin isn’t great to me, even on grinding out coin in, so I decide to skulk back over to @jpw711 ’s beloved Mighty Cash, which has done decent this trip, and I LOVE the double up feature!

Immediately better, lower bet, higher return!

Err! Rewind before the final write up.

I know what many of you are thinking...

Dumbass, why are you still playing?Take the win and quit!”

I know it’s looking like a movie where someone is ahead, and blows it. But I tucked the win away and was just playing my original night’s bankroll.

    Why?

    I am overcomped.

    Consistently.

And I want to keep it this way.

My ADT really should be about $200 a day in comps, not NEARLY enough for Aria tower suites, but I get them regularly...and I love them.

But I treat my coin-in like credit, I am SUPER reliable, same coin-in range day in, day out. I strongly believe this is why I am over-comped.

I may not be a huge player, but I’m consistent. Low risk. Just like low risk on credit is gold, I’ve found it’s my secret sauce on comps. I won’t go over my budget for comps, but I DO bust my fanny to keep it consistent if it’s within my budget, ergo why I let myself play my allotted bankroll for the night.

but....the night was young, and I will foreshadow, security was involved at the end of the night...

Plus I was warmed up and ready to go, and on my last night in Magicland.

    I was far from done...

And so, the night goes on. There is something magical, and rare, about playing with money that is gravy, coin-in you feel you need to spend. Very rare for me.

While I misbehave and bet more when a bit, ummmm, full of liquid courage, this night was just pure “let’s go a little wild on spend”. It was GREAT! So I go up to $4.50 a spin

    E854EB44-3A26-4EC3-831C-32EDD652F312.jpeg

And I keep playing. Ok @jpw711 ...your mighty cash has me hooked! Holy crap, another big win! 02F35B6D-AFED-4774-A6C6-61B826640104.jpeg

and the night goes on.... 6AEE7F53-3838-4E47-AC0C-7E3462F440CF.jpeg

At this point, I’m a bit in Vegas Heaven. When I chase the win? Ass handed to me, on multiple trips.

Coin-In grinding vs chasing a win? I always do better, but not like this!

At this point, I have a nice British couple next to me, Vegas regulars, NOT using a card. We are chatting, and I tell them I’m normally $1.50 MAYBE $3.00 a spin. This night is wild because I won. He says he’s around $3.00 a spin...lots of play. I gently point out he’s not using a card, and that we haven’t paid for a room in years. He never knew about comps and thus never used a card, and said he ABSOLUTELY will now. After they saw me win another $800 and knew about my handpay, I gave them $100 for good luck.

Probably foolish giving $100, but I had given the lady next to me on my first handpay $20 (someone did that for me once and it meant a lot, and she wasn’t betting a ton, so it would go farther), but I had felt guilty about only giving $20, so I gave this couple more. Probably foolish like I said, but they were so nice, and said they do that too when they win.

Well, don’t bank on Karma, but I’m a big believer kindness/generosity never hurts.

And then Mighty cash roars again. Apparently Mighty Cash agreed. D541D7E1-B820-4629-A6FD-3F25988F50E9.jpeg

Holy flipping crap, a SECOND handpay in one night?

it’s late, but I’m all my years in Vegas, I’ve NEVER had a streak like this....so how could I leave?

And I kept playing. And hit this. 6A454A24-7261-4736-B23C-9C056A516C81.jpeg
to top it off, I had one more hand pay for $2542 that I DIDNT take a picture of! That was THREE handpays in one night....

and JR, my sweet slot attendant that helped me on two. He had just gotten off for the night, but saw me hit another hand pay, so stuck around to pay me out. DD11F0C7-DF62-4778-801F-87E6E9E7B67B.jpeg

$2738, $2542, and $1224...and these were at $4 a spin for most, one briefly at $9 a spin, no $25 or $50 a spin. (9$ for me is insane.)

At this point, it hit my daily coin-in, and it was 7:00 am....so time to “take the money and run”!

So, you all are saying, what about security?

Well, my mom normally wakes up later in the morning in Vegas (earlier at home), but we are very close, and not to sound crazy, but we can sometimes pick up on each other. Either she just woke up early, or she felt my excitement, but when I wasn’t in the room when she woke up early, she walked down to security to report me missing.

(I’m a little chubby and middle-aged, mom, no one is running off with me!) But, it was so sweet, and I felt awful. When I told her why? Three handpays? She was a million percent ok!

Our 7 day Cosmo-Aria trip, minus tips, was TOTALLY free (except Uber), as I even was in the black on gambling! (and yes we called down to say I was fine, though you know they knew it was just Vegas shenanigans.)

I never do money shots, but this trip was so epic, I took one: AB803649-9FED-4454-8FB9-4655A15F6C8F.jpeg

From there, it was travel day, and I still had to hit the hay. Pre-nap, we visited, then we both took long naps, and we went home ahead of the game with a totally free, magical-mother daughter trip.

It might be a once in a lifetime Vegas trip, but I’ll take it!

Thank you Aria and Cosmo, they are both always amazing to this mid-roller, and my mom and I can’t wait to do it again....shes already chomping at the bit for the next trip, as am I!

    Thanks for following along!

Wow, what a way to cap off a great trip!

By the way...I remember looking in the past (out of curiosity) at condos in Vegas. The Veer towers (the mustard yellow ones right in City Center) aren't nearly as expensive as I thought they'd be. I think studios are under $350k and 1 bedrooms are around $450k. I'm sure HOA dues are outrageous though. Certainly not cheap, but not $1MM either.

This TR was better than many movies I have watched and books I have read LOL.

Congrats on the winnings but taking your mom and having her enjoy it as much as she did is equivalent to a HUGE handpay. Well done.
