l was killing time on Thursday AM and played Blackjack Switch at 4 Queens while my wife was getting ready. Never played the switch version before, so I gave it a shot ($5 minimum). Cashed out after playing for about 45 minutes (ended up $15). Learned it was hard to make any kind of run because you end up basically pushing between the two hands you play, and of course the dealer hit 22 about 5-6 times in that short amount of time which pushed every hand. Having the ability to switch your top two cards between your hands is a fun wrinkle tho, so I am glad I gave the game a chance. So finally to the reason/question I am posting: During one of the hands, the dealer dealt herself a "3" up with her other card face down. When it came time to play out her hand she flipped over another "3". As she played out her hand, she dealt herself three more "3s" for a total of 15 (five cards). Her next card was an Ace (soft 16) and on her seventh card dealt herself another ace for a soft 17. On the eighth card, the dealer flipped over a "9", so she was back to a 16 total and had to take another card. On her 9th card, she flipped over another 9, and finally busted with a total of 25 and 9 cards. The dealer said she has been dealing Blackjack for over 30 years and that was the most cards she has ever played out in one hand.

My question - what is the most cards you have seen played out before someone busted in a BJ hand?

I think the dealer misdealt her hand. 3+3+3+3+3=15+1=16+1=17 At this point she is done drawing as this is not soft 17. This is a hard 17. 17s are only soft if the value of an Ace is 11.

Sounds like a misdeal. You can only get to 8 cards if you get only 2s. Only Aces can get you above 8 cards and as you noted, not enough of them occurred. I think 7 is the most I've ever seen.

I've seen 7-card dealer busts multiple times...and lots of 6-card 21s.
The one of note that I remember had 3 Aces and 3 Twos. (2-2-A-7-2-A-A-X)... I may have the order off a bit, but I definitely remember 3 Aces & 3 Twos, and a hard 16 after 6 cards... so, I'm sure I'm close with that sequence.

Played black jack at the Golden Gate one afternoon last fall; I had a hard 18 and the dealer had a 7 card draw to 19 to beat me.
