    My Trip Report

Now that it is open to the general public, I took a quick morning trip to the Borgata to check things out, since I live about 1/2 hour away. I was only there for a couple of hours but I really just wanted to wander around and take some pics. I did play craps and some slots but no wins to report. I will add pictures of my walk around of the property.

Here are some general observations (mind you these could change as I was only there for a couple of hours):

    - You can only park in the parking garage, or there was parking for Noir members. No surface parking.
    - First floor of garage parking was blocked off. I parked on the second floor but I found a spot right away. It was about half full, this floor anyway. I ended up just taking the stairs since it was only one level down.
    - Temperature checks were being performed at the entrance off the parking garage elevators, the front entrance/dropoff, and back entrance where food trucks were.
    - There were hand sanitizing stations around. They also had a couple of hand washing stations.
    - It was not crowded at all, but that could have been because it was 9 am when I got there.
    - Table games...the ones they were using for players had plexiglass dividers. 3 seats for blackjack and carnival games, 3 to a side for craps. I did not check out roulette closely but I assume it's either 3 or 4 per table. I was suprised that only one person was playing craps when I walked up to it. When I left the table it was full.
    - Table minimums (during my visit)...they had one craps table open. $10 minimum. Most carnival games (let it ride, 3 cars poker, flop poker) were $5. Blackjack and roulette were $10. I did not see the lone $5 blackjack table they usually have open, nor was there an open Caribbean stud table. I did not check the high limit areas.
    - Marketplace was open but all tables removed.
    - Sportsbooks were not open yet but I was told they would open at 11 am. I did not go back to check them out before I left.
    - There was outdoor dining (Street Eats) and outdoor seating at the back entrance by surface parking. They were still setting up when I went out to take pictures, so more food trucks may have been there after I was there
    - Outdoor Pool/beer garden was open but I did not go in. I just stood outside to get a picture
    - I did not wander down to the water club area so I’m not sure what is/was open. But there was a sign for the Sunbar dining (see picture).
    - Place felt very clean and safe to me. Slot machines appeared to be clean. Everyone was wearing masks. With that said, I did see security tell someone to pull their mask up over their nose.

Policies are even stricter than Vegas. Right now no indoor dining allowed, including drinks on the casino floor. Also, all casinos are temporarily nonsmoking.

Agreed, much appreciated on the updates for the Borgata and it's pretty crazy to see it so empty. I really can't see even the Borgata, which is the cream of the crop for AC, being moderately crowded/generating much of any revenue if this indoor dining ban lasts another month or two - i.e. summertime when AC is popping. As most AC revelers know, the crowd there during the summertime gets pretty rowdy and draws significantly higher than the dead of winter (I still love all times during the year, but that's just me lol). Right now, it looks more subdued than Baltimore (where you can still drink while gambling), which is saying something.

    Thanks again!

Thank you for the pictures... wow, it is shining and I can see how clean it is... I also noticed my daughter in one of the front desk pics - she works there.

I remember you saying that one time @nancyf , pretty neat! If I get a chance to go up with my wife this fall I'll say hi (she loves the Borgata).

I don’t think that they opened because they are going to make tons of money. It’s more about saving face with their loyal customers.

Being that none of us know how long this covid thing is going to last, the longer they stay closed, the more likely players will sway to other operations in town.

They all wore masks! How did you know?

They opened on Thursday or Friday by invitation, I’m curious as to what Borgata did for the high rollers.

I think because they are so isolated compared to the boardwalk, Borgata needed to ramp up their takeout and outdoor dining options and that caused a delay. But they need to bring in some revenue.
