Was announced some time ago. Anyone have reliable info on the timng?
I heard it was starting this June. Not for sure though. We're going to book a room there for end of June.

There are plenty of people guessing the new name. If I were a betting man (lol) I would venture as to say it would be called something with the word "Park" in it. Such as Park Place or Park Avenue. Or maybe even Central Park, which plays well with next-door neighbor New York New York. Maybe they can extend the roller coaster into the Monte Carlo lobby, that would be sweet.
We went out in the spring of 2015, they were talking about it and said it should be late 2015. Went back in late August 2015, still nothing. The staff kind of chuckled when I asked, and said they've been talking about it forever. We're now booked at MC for part of our May 2016 trip....still no rebranding. I'm sure it'll happen, just no idea when. They are working on chefs though, so the timeline must have gelled at least a bit. Maybe it'll be done for our 2017 trip if June is their start date!
I am ready for room renos, but I just hope they don't change the casino too much...I love the old world look of it. Mirage took out the pretty marble walls leading to the room elevators and replaced it with drywall...bland...I hope MC doesn't do the same!
Though I'd be up for the roller coaster
It will be interesting to see what they end up doing. By most accounts there will be some kind of "rebranding". I'm trying to think of the last time a place was renamed without changing ownership. There are probably some obvious one's that I just can't think of. I remember when the MC first opened, it was pretty nice. Lance Burton had his own showroom and drew well. It quickly settled into the midrange, good location, good value market.
More than a rebrand, it needs some serious room renovations. That's just based on two stays over the past 13 months.

Actually The Imperial Palace/Quad to the Linq or The Cromwell are "rebrands" and done after ownership were changed but each were changed a few times. We stayed there when it first opened and our first comp ever was there so some good memories. I am glad they are doing something with it as it was looking a bit worn. We used to love taking the monorail to the Bellagio and I am glad they started it back up especially with the City Center. Lots of good memories also we did see Lance Burton and our daughter was picked to go on stage for an act. Go Green...Rick
Quad to Linq, I should have remembered that. And you're right about Cromwell. I forgot that Boyd and CET (then Harrah's) swapped Bill's for the Westward Ho property. So CET owned Bill's when it changed into Cromwell. Aladdin/PH is another one. CET bought it 3 years after it switched over.
you can be forgiven since Quad lasted so long.....was it even a full year??
I tough that the Aladdin wasn't owned by CET, it was acquired and then changed to PH.
We are mlife members but never stayed there. We reached out to a host who ensured we got a summer offer of 3 nights, $125.00 FP and $100.00. While she did not confirm the new name, she noted it might be something like Park Place. She was excited about the reno's, as are we!!
What's wrong with the Monte Carlo name? I kinda thought that name gave the place a more high-end appeal than it actually is.
I like the name Monte Carlo as well. All of the Park names people have been floating around do nothing for me. I know of numerous places called Park Place already. Central Park too many people would confuse with New York New York and would expect a NYC theme. I like the names "Cromwell" and "The Linq" so hopefully MGM hits the mark.
Friends of ours who were there 2 weeks ago checked in and checked right back out again! They went down the road to the Venetian instead.
Separate names with a comma.
