More on the unlimited dim sum, it tasted traditional and fresh except whatever gross oil the tofu was cooked in. The decor was typical cheap Chinese with some handwritten notes in the corner and things taped over that were not available. The hot sauces on the table had plastic spoons for serving utensils. The tablecloths were multilayered and paper so they could be peeled off for the next guest. The bathroom had three lightbulbs missing and blinking mirror power and anti fog buttons that weren’t working. Handwritten signs everywhere. A warning on the outside to not keep valuables in your car.
You’ve got to think most of the stuff was frozen or canned. For my money I would go to Hakkasan instead. Beautiful decor, elegant serving and plating, fresh grease. Yeah double the price and not as much variety but certainly more upscale.
At the table next to us was a guy eating alone and obviously enjoying himself. My mother asked how the mango pudding was and he said it was good and his first time here. He said something about wanting a self driving car because he was an old man and my auntie countered, “I bet I’m older than you”. He said he was 79, an old man. He said he was going to work and in true Geico commercial fashion, my mother asked more questions and asked where he worked. He gave a business card, room chef at South Point. Not sure if he was looking for a new customer or a dating prospect.

More auntisms, yesterday when parking at Harrahs, auntie was waiting on a parking space near the elevator. Two feet away were plenty of open spaces but she sat and waited in the middle of the garage on the people going into their car and getting situated before backing out. They didn’t even have their car in reverse but she kept waiting. Then she got agitated and exclaimed “oh cmon! Hurry up people! What’s taking so long! Put it in reverse and move!”
I offered there were plenty of other parking spaces and we were blocking traffic. So she peeled out and raced up to the next floor for some bizarre reason, because she wanted to be closer to the elevator. Every morning she’s been proud of herself for taking a morning walk for exercise. When I ask how far she went she said to the next street and back, equivalent to two blocks. Dude, you can just park further away from the elevator and get more exercise than that.
At Bugsy last night she was waiting for the occupied bathroom inside the restaurant after we finished dinner. I said there are plenty of bathrooms in the casino but she demurred, “These are cleaner.” And I would absolutely disagree with that because they’re unisex plus she’d never been in the other bathrooms so how would she know!
She went into this grossly long story about her neighbor, what her neighbor did and how they knew each other for years. The neighbor had outlets not working in her bedroom and bathroom so the ones that were working she filled with chargers to charge her phone. Well, one night there was a power outage and the neighbor’s phone didn’t charge. All to finally say, auntie bought her a portable charger. Why didn’t she just say she bought her a charger? Why the long back story? And literally this was a 25 minute story, so long I nearly forgot the storyline. I thought it was something like her house caught in fire and death ensued.
When I call out Bruxo for something dumb like that he says, “You’re going to miss me when I’m gone.” I’ll have to think that way about auntie when she launches into some weird diatribe with no punchline.
