Color me skeptical.. that would differentiate MGM from other programs and not in a good way. Even parsimonius Eldorado isn't doing that.

Maybe there's some internal promo or quota for reservations department. "You're all spending too much time talking, answering questions, but not actually booking rooms! Your job is to get the people into the casino!" Maybe it's the operator's line of BS to book reservations..

If it happens, I'll use existing points and resort credit until gone, which might be one short stay... and stop playing at MGM. Free rooms are part of the LV lure to me. I'm not fooled into believing that freeplay will convert to cash that I take home; they know the psychology is that players are likely to play any winnings on freeplay. More resort credit? I'm not paying for a plane ticket and a room for the promise of some free food.

    More cruises, anyone?

This is probably a new employee or a misinformed one. I remember calling the 800 number to reserve a room and having the agent tell me that I have no comp rooms on my set days ,and that I would have to pay because they were fully booked. So, another phone call later in the day confirmed my comps. It does get frustrating though...

I'm lower end myself. I used to always see midweek comped through Mlife. That went away in May for me. Now everything is pay.

Are these customer service lines being run by actual company employees or by third-party contractors? That could explain the confusion right there.

We're low rollers who love our mid-week, off-season comps in AC. But if we have to pay full rates, then we're likely finished, too. There are plenty of other resort hotels/destinations on our wish list.

Right now I see way fewer comps for us in AC this Fall with CET/Eldorado, but I'm hoping that's because of pent-up demand. We'll see how it unfolds.

I've noticed that some weekend CET rooms are not fully comped for me but only on Raider home game weekends. I'm not yet sure I'd want to be in Vegas for those days anyhow.

Since I never eat more than $50 in food over a three day trip a food comp is pretty worthless to me. It's not going to draw flies.

I don't believe they would do this. However, let's face it, CET and the others would milk it for a bit, before jumping right on board :). Just like with resort fees.

They made me an offer I couldn't refuse!

Comped rooms for lower end players are based on availability and demand. I got a Sunday thru Thursday comped at Cromwell in February, than 3 nights comped Super Bowl weekend at Nomad. At my level, pre Covid, the best I could hope for Midweek is Paris comped. And weekends, no way I’m getting anything comped. But they must’ve had a ton of rooms available, and I stop them going empty, they let the lower end players have them. Things must be picking up, because I’m looking at September or October, I’m only seeing up to 4 nights comped at lower CET properties, same with Mlife, and that’s midweek.

Right now, especially on weekends the city has nearly no rooms to spare. Most if not all strip and downtown properties are "sold out" through the end of summer. As such players are getting offers that are impossible to redeem.

I suspect the gist of what was trying to be said was that the number of rooms being held on the side for offers is decreasing and or being taken very quickly. Even another post on here indicated that players with offers are going to have a very hard time booking them through at least October as the properties are filling up.

they're really stupid if this is true.
the entire reason they give comps is to psycologicially make people feel like they got something of value.

for example if someone loses 2000 dollars or 1800 dollars they feel the same, but if they lose 2000 and get a 200 dollar dinner comped they feel a lot better.same with rooms. people go to vegas expecting to win even though they're likely to lose- "free " rooms get them there.

The last time I made a bet at an MLife casino was April 2019 and, according the W/L statements, I lost $300 at NYNY. To this day I am still getting offers for comp rooms with food credit at all the properties. Usually 4 nights at the lower end (Luxor/Excalibur), and 2-3 at the higher level (Arai/Bellagio). Now, when I look at the calendar the nights I can use them are terrible and not convenient, but they are still giving me comp rooms 2+ years out on a single $300 loss. Could they be making plans to remov comp rooms in the future? Sure, it's MLife, nothing they do would surprise me, but I can't see them doing it for anyone but the very low rollers.

I don't think they would stop room comps.
But, it they really do it, I am OK with it if they give comps in the forms of free play.

I am not thinking they will go away. Right now they are getting tight - especially on weekends.

If they can fill it up with PAYING customers, that is what they will do. Once this post covid surge slows down, it will swing back the other way.

My two cents worth. (who do I give my $100 bill to?)

The other day I got an email offer:

We're ready for you. Want proof? Here's an offer:
20% Off Room Rates at MGM Grand +
Spend more than $500 during your stay and get $50 in Express Comps™ to use on your next visit*

I logged in to MLife and the "Gaming offer" is completely non-existent now, and nothing's showing up as comped on the calendar. Their offer excitedly offering me proof they want me back feels like a girl excitedly telling me she really really likes me but she thinks we're better off as friends... woohoo.

CET has some stuff showing comped for super bowl weekend so I guess I should book now just in case :blah:

I haven't had any gaming offers for several months, just the "Up to 15% off our Flexible Rate" and AAA offers. My play doesn't warrant a host, and calling yielded no offers. The loss of offers coincided with cancelling a MyVegas room reservation; I'm not sure if that's related or not.

Since I no longer have any offers to lose it might be time to start burning my MyVegas points on the $25 MyKonami free play awards without worrying about low-playing the casinos.

I have to wonder if they are just adjusting to the conditions as they are constantly changing. If occupancy rates are any indication demand is very high and rooms will be utilized. Will this mean some low rollers are pushed a bit? Most definitely yes. I seriously doubt the plan will be to eliminate COMP rooms all together; although who knows really. Even if they push the envelope a little as demand and foot traffic etc decrease they will dip into the well and start comping those that were pushed as it is easier to market to an existing customer than to convert a new one. There be blowback if they do push too far though. Needless to say market conditions are changing very rapidly right now and almost any business is adapting as best they can.

Well now I’m really curious what will happen…mask requirements are changing. Hopefully that won’t impact travel to Vegas, but if it does, I would imagine they would want to keep the free rooms to entice people

Updated offers. 400-600 fp and 200-500 resort credit both depending on which hotel. All hotels are now comped thru July 2022.
