Hey gang,

I know this has been asked a thousand times and it kills me, as a Vegas and VMB veteran, to have to ask it. But I can't seem to find any recent posts that address it, so here I am.

Soooo...I'm thinking about (double) booking an Mlife joint just to use the "Resort Credit". Can I use these at any Mlife place or just the hotel where I'm "staying"? (The RCs being offered at the less expensive joints are significantly more than the ones from the resorts where I'd like to eat.)

I've asked various employees of the MGM family, over the years - in person and on the phone - and have received plenty of different answers. So please, no, "just call", responses...

Is there an official policy of which anyone is aware? Or is it truly a case-by-case issue like the "do I have to pay a resort fee on a comped room" thing?

Many thanks!

It will be either
a) only at the hotel you are staying at
or
b) at any MGM property.

You will need to double check when you checkin. Any over the phone answer is at your own risk. Remember, when you book another room, you will also have a resort credit to pay. And, if both offers are comped, you will not be able to have two bookings on the same day.

Do you know what the specific wording on the offer says?

If it says "MLife resort credit" - that means anywhere.

These days you have to ask when you check in, unless you see specifics in the fine print of your offer, and I don't see any in my offers..

I'd be inclined to say if it's a corporate offer you can use it anywhere and if it's property-specific you can't, but I wouldn't want to bet on that.

I know that on various stays in the last 2 - 3 years I've stayed at MGM Grand, I've charged back from Mirage and had it covered by resort credit and I hadn't bothered asking, but I've also (on a later trip) been told at check in that it had to be used at MGM Grand.

I think they will tell you, but if they don't, I'd ask.

Thanks for the responses, guys/gals.

To clarify: neither my father nor myself will be staying at an MLife property (we both have rooms at Cosmo). I was just thinking about booking a room at an MLife place to get the resort credits since Cosmo is flanked by two MLife joints with an abundance of good dining options and we'll almost certainly have a few meals at one or the other - or both. I was hoping I would be able to get the extra RCs by "staying" at Lux/NYNY/Excal/MC and use them at Prime, Bardot, Carbone, Craft, etc.

The offer is indeed a corporate one and the specific language is "MLife Rewards Resort Credit for Food and Beverage". So hopefully, I'll be able to use those credits anywhere in the MLife family.

But, in case I can't...

Are there any "fine dining" options at Luxor/NYNY/Excalibur/Monte Carlo that can compare with ones from Bellagio/Aria/MGM etc.? (I'm not as interested in "casual dining" at those places as I don't think we'd be able to use all the credits.)

Thanks again!

I've eaten at Tender in Luxor. It was good and I would go again. I bet any of the steakhouses in the 2nd tier props would be good and they're not cheap.

I agree with @Chuck2009x that it is best to ask when you check in.

This has been my experience at the two mlife properties that I have stayed at this year, Aria and Mirage. Each had different policies on using Resort Credits, so I would talk to the property where you have the offer and ask what their specific policy is when dining at another mlife property and charging back to your hotel and ask if you will be able to use Resort Credits to cover that situation.

Aria : I was there on a room comp with FP and Resort Credit. I was told by two separate people that my Resort Credits could only be used at Aria (I asked twice because I'd heard different versions about Aria). Sure enough, I charged a meal at Bellagio back to my Aria room - that part was fine. But I verified the next day, and the Resort Credit was not posted to cover my Bellagio meal and I had not exhausted my RC's and again was told the RC's would only be used on Aria charges, so when I checked out, I used express comps for that meal.

Mirage: I was there on a room comp with FP and Resort Credit. I was told I could charge meals at other mlife properties back to my room and use Resort Credits to cover up to the amount of my RC, excluding tips which are not covered on RC's. Indeed I was able to charge meals from Bellagio back to my Mirage room and they were covered using my Resort Comps.

Sorry but I don't have specifics on the other mlife properties you are looking at. Best of luck being able to use those RC's!

Of those hotels, I've only eaten at Gallagher's at NYNY, after a show. It was a little loud and the decor wasn't my personal preference, but the food was fine. A couple of steaks, a side, and a couple of drinks for 2 should get you to $150.
