I have various questions on the Mlife loyalty program. I am currently not able to visit Vegas more than 1-2 times a year now that I have a little one.

    1. I have hear conflicting reports from my host and from the board. Does redeeming my Vegas or express comps if I am not playing at an MGM property negatively impact me? My host says no but i have seen some post to the contrary. Anyone know for sure?
    2. How long will I continue to get decent offers if I don't stay at an Mlife prop. My last visit to an MGM Property(Bellagio) was December 2012. I am thinking of Possibly staying again in December 2013. Will I continue to get offers based on my last trip after such a long absence? I am a Gold Level and not a High Roller. Recent offer from Bellagio( 200 FP/100 food/3 nights regular room/2 tickets to "o")
    a. I am kicking myself as I can't use it as I will be at the Cosmo for 5 nights in June. I am only debating double booking as what if the count my use of express comps or my vegas as a trip and my comps dry up anyways?

Travelling once or twice a year doesn't hurt me with a host.

I do not think actually using EC hurts you good, or bad.

But, if for example, you are in Vegas and do not play at all at an MGM property, but do use your EC, you probably "trip" the system and your play, or lack of will go against your averages. So, bottom line, you are either there, or you are not. Personally, if I was staying and playing elsewhere, I would be hesitant to redeem a small amount of EC due to now being visible in the Mlife system.

As to getting the same offer next month, next qtr or even next year. It is not always tied to your play. There are other factors - mainly the current direction and "mood" of the marketing and mgmt folks. Always hard to say what they will do next month.

Side question - with these good offers at MGM, why are you doing Cosmo vs Bellagio on next trip?

Nostress- I have 4 free nights and 200 in slot play at the Cosmo and I love their fountain view room with the Japanese soaking tub. I love the Cosmo and want to stay there. I wish I had the money to cover 2 hotels but don't. I did last time but it is a damn hassle and stressful.

I have decided to take my wife off my mlife account so she can redeem the myvegas points and I can save my myvegas points for next trip. I don't want to trip the system by using my card there.

Not sure what you current and future plans are, so I may be totally off base here. Here is what we are doing.

We had started to give Cosmo some play and did not like how they treated us. On our next visit, I will take them up on their free nights offer, and will low to no play them. Our play will be at Bellagio/Aria as we will be back there again. In fact, we will also take the offer at Bellagio and have two rooms.

We will play ourselves out of future Cosmo offers, and do well with Bellagio.

What happened with the cosmo? My host is very nice to me there. I don't think I play big enough for anything special. What problems are they giving you? I really love the cosmo rooms

    Love the rooms.

    Service is marginal, just okay.

Play is not to my liking. Comps are very tight. We were Plat and nobody could tell us what our points were, and we needed to find a host to use them. Emails from host were terrible. So, we just dropped and stick with MGM as we know what our comps are, more room choices, etc. Hard to be linked to a single hotel/casino.

Do you have to use your Mlife every 6 months, once a years or doesn't matter and not lose like on CET where if not used once every 6 months you lose.

Not to hate on your vacation... I would take the free days and use them to bolster your play elsewhere.

A few years ago, the Cosmo retooled their Identity program and they basically took away all of the perks, making it arguably the worst player's club in Vegas (and probably even the US). Not only that, they tend to rate you unfairly, the casino is small, and their house edge is akin to playing at CET. None of that is good for the player.

I like staying at the Cosmo, but I've learned that they're a hotel first and a casino second. Great rooms but not good to players. That's a completely different attitude than the rest of the casino industry.

FWIW, I'm Platinum at Cosmo and I don't play there any longer.

MLife Express Comps never expire as long as you use your card once every 12 months.

Is there a way to use your MLife card without going to Vegas? We don't go once per year....just not affordable to us.

My experience at Cosmo is vastly different than everyone else. I have always had great service. My host responds to my email withing 2 business days and always answers my questions. SHe also hooked me up with weekend nights when my offer was only for week day nights. I was platinum via Grazie match error as the matched my gold card. I did retain gold status by earning 23k points over the last 12 months. I play at MGM and the rewards I get can not be counted on or guaranteed. This trip she is giving me 4 nights up front which is difficult to get at an MGM prop.

When you guys mention issues with comps and ratings what do you get else where? Where have you been shorted elsewhere? I play slots and tables and am a smaller range player. I bring 3k per a trip or so.

The only (that I know of) to use your card when you're not in Vegas is to give it to someone else, give them money, and have them play it through a machine with your card in it... keeping your express comps active for another 12 month period. Or, you could simply make it a point to use up your express comps before you leave Vegas... probably the best thing to do.

One thing I hate about the Cosmo, being Platinum there, is that if I want anything... it has to go through a host. I don't like that they've taken away the limo from the airport, the free upgrades, the express taxi/valet privileges, and I've heard they've removed front of the line privileges at the buffet as well. They even moved the player's lounge from the floor to a room in the hotel. So, what exactly am I getting from them besides a free room and a few restaurants to eat? Nothing.

I get all of that MLife. Not to mention the vast array of restaurants, shows, events, and clubs they have to offer me. And, I earn comps and tier credits much faster for less money at MLife as well... especially with the tier bonus.

So, while I like staying at Cosmo (and if they sent me some free nights I'd stay again), I'm not going to spend money gambling there (other than the occasional quick hit and exit). I'll spend that money at MLife and pick up all the perks they have to offer me.

Undathesea- You no longer need a host to use your points if you are platinum. I get what your saying about the perks. If I qaulified for those perks I would probably be at mlife as well. I play 25 a hand BJ or 100 a roll on craps and and 1-15 dollars a pull on the slots or more if I am lucky. What kind of play do you give MLIFE and what do they give you?

    Works for us

Our good friends go at least twice a year. We give them our cards and a little cash. They play our cash on our cards until they double the money or bust. Works for both of us. They get some freeplay (sort of) and our cards get used.

if that's the case then you're playing at a level where you should never have any ECs left over after a trip anyway. always have them use them all before you leave and it doesn't matter.

My last 5 trips have been stays in SkySuites at Aria.
Really enjoy everything about them but thought I would give Cosmo a shot in two weeks.
My one night stay over a year ago may not have been a fair test.
After reading this and following NateDogs report where they constantly underated his play I'm
starting to second guess my decision.

I think a lot of places under rate your play. I was at a local casino and playing craps. I said what do you have me rated at. The lady said 60 bucks. I said impossible. The table minimum is 15. I have 15 on pass line/ 18 on 6/18 on 8 15 on 4/10 and 20-30 on the hardways. THis is a minimum of 90 dollars out there before I press. She said I will fix it. I think the whole rating thing is frustrating. I just always have to remember to ask to make sure they are rating me.

In Las Vegas I have stayed at MGM properties for 3+ years and have found my ratings to be very close to spot on.
In AC and NOLA I play at Harrahs and have found the same thing.
It looks like Cosmo management instructs the floor people to rate players lower than actual and maybe upgrade if challenged.
