Finally have a trip planned after a two year absence and decided to get an MLife MasterCard to try to make up for lost Gold status. So, a dumb question…if I charge everything on the MLife card, is there any reason to carry/use my old Players Card? Also, are the points attributed when I use the card or only after I pay the monthly bill? I’m hoping to get bumped back up to Gold status while I’m there.

If I read your question correctly, you can't use your mLife credit card at the tables or in the slot machines, so YES you need to bring your player's club card. There Is nothing ON the credit card that associates it with you as a player.

With zero play, it would take about $37,500 spend on the card to make Gold.

I don't think that you can "double dip" by spending with the card in Las Vegas.

In addition, I believe it's only one or two points per dollar when you use the credit card, whereas having them swipe your card at restaurants or other outlets gets you 25 points per dollar. I suppose you could charge it to your room and do it all that way, but I would bring the card. And as @DaiLun noted, the credit card is worthless at the tables or slot machines.

Their website answers some of your questions. When you actually go to Vegas and talk to the MLife desk they'll print you out a new card (for Pearl status) which you will still need while playing games.

Your points earned through credit card spend will post as points on MLife a few days after you pay your statement

I could be wrong as I don't have the card and can't get it being from Canada, but I believe you can double dip. But most of the tier credits will come from Mlife spend attached to your players card (at 25x). You get 3x for Mlife spend if you use the credit card. So you would basically get 28x (but as stated above the 3x from the credit card won't post until after your statement date).

The MLife Mastercard does not replace your MLife Players Card. You still need your players card when you're gambling in any MLife casinos to earn tier points. Like @DaiLun pointed out in his post, you'll also have rack up a lot of purchases on the Mastercard to earn enough tier points to make gold.

The Mastercard will bump you to Pearl, but you don't get the tier points that goes along with being Pearl so you'll be starting out from "O". I think the card benefits those who can't reach Pearl via their play alone, since it give them benefit of that tier level like free parking and a few other perks, as well as keeping your MLife players club account active so you don't lose your points from inactivity. Those are my main reasons why I have the card, since I can't always make Pearl or higher every year from just my Vegas play.

I haven't done the math or tracking... I have a Mastercard.

I believe it's one point per dollar most places.. two points per dollar at grocery stores and gas stations. Three points per dollar at MGM properties.

I can't say for certain, but I think card users do double-dip when using the Mastercard at MGM properties. Because you'll earn points while spending at the property... but you also get your Mastercard MLife points as you pay the Mastercard statement....

I'll be at Nomad next month. I'll be able to see MLife points accumulate as I play. When I check out and pay the hotel bill, including restaurant room charges. And, 4-6 weeks later as the Mastercard billing cycles progress and I pay the bill. Having written all that... I've monitored my MLife points while staying/playing....I've never once tried monitoring my MLife account points based on Mastercard payments. - its entirely possible the Mastercard never generated a point after that initial bonus of 10,000 points.

I would love to use the Mlife mastercard as player's card in a slot machine, and of course forget it there.
So that someone else can get it and use it do some shopping.

I wonder how farfetched that will be as we all get forced to cashless gaming....

    Consolidating:

You need to bring your regular players club card to:
    • Use when gambling
    • Present to earn Tier Credits for point-of-purchase transactions (gift shop, restaurant)
    • Use ExpressComps to pay for point-of-purchase transactions (restaurant)
    • For anything charged to your room where you have the credit card as the payment method, you will receive 25 TCs per $1 from the players club for the spend plus 3 TCs and 3 points per $1 for paying the bill with the credit card
      • If you were to pay at point-of-purchase (gift shop, restaurant) using just the credit card, without presenting your players club card, you would wind up getting only 3 TCs instead of a total of 28
    • The extra 3 TCs and 3 points from the credit card spend do not post to your Mlife account until a few days after the billing cycle ends.
    • Having the credit card gives you Pearl status which currently confers a 10% bonus on points from gambling and ExpressComps earned from gambling, and extends the expiration period of points and ExpressComps to 12 months instead of 6 (vs Sapphire level). The 10% bonus does not apply to Tier Credits.
      • Having the card give you Pearl status but you do not get any tier credits just for having it. You need to earn 75,000 to reach Gold.
    • When they are offering a sign-up bonus for the card, you receive the bonus points at the end of the billing cycle during which you cross the spending threshold. So if the terms are spend $1,000 in the first three months to get 10,000 points, and you do all the required spend in the first month, they don't make you wait three months to get the points.
I got the card solely for using when I stay at MGM properties and to use to keep my points and TCs alive if I happen to not stay at one of their properties for over a year, which has happened. A vanilla 2%-cash-back-on-everything card is preferable for everything else for my purposes.

of course... all those points mean very little, other than getting you to the next level.

It will NOT get your more comps. Only play does that.

Agreed, I've had years where I've hit platinum but barely gambled, all based on resort spend (a couple expensive hotel rooms and dinner can really pad your total!). And yet, while I did play some, it was never enough to really get on their radar from a comp perspective. I only play for fun, though, and if I'm not feeling like going above $50, I won't, even if it means I'm giving up comps.
